“Beautiful apartment with breathtaking views”
Reviewed 20 March 2018 for a stay in March 2018

During our 5 days in Lubrin we did three of the long walks and we thoroughly enjoyed walking through the foothills as well as high in the mountain tops, just stunning.
On the walks I would ensure that you bring a Spanish phrase book incase you get lost. Also make sure you have a good walking guide, with clear pictures and directions. We found sometimes in our walking guide it was not easy to interpret the directions and some of the photos can look similar e.g. a dried up river bed and a track. Therefore, the two can be easily confused.
We stayed in Lubrin the entire trip so we supported local restaurants and shops by spending in their businesses. Also we supported conservation by using the walking trails. If these trails are not used then they may not attract future funding and will become un-used.
A great walking holiday, beautiful walks, stunning scenery, glorious weather, lovely accommodation, good food and drink at very affordable prices. A very laid back and relaxing holiday, just what we wanted.

“Fabulous location, fabulous hosts, fabulous holiday”
Reviewed 10 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We spent the best part of two weeks at Cortijo Fuente Arriba and enjoyed every minute. The location is just a few minutes from the lovely rural village of Lubrin so you have the benefit of being surrounded by countryside yet within easy walking distance of the small shops, bars and restaurant.
Having seen the accommodation described as "rustic", I did wonder if it would live up to the photographs but was happy to find it was everything we hoped for. Modest with character might be a better description but in the nicest way - not five-star luxury but very comfortable and somewhere you instantly feel at home and relaxed. As well as very knowledgeable about the area, owners John and Mair were perfect hosts - happy to spend a bit of time and have a 'sundowner' with guests to chat about their day and plans but equally happy if people preferred their own space to enjoy the privacy of their individual apartment. The area offers lots of scope for walking but it's just as easy to slip into a routine of doing nothing much other than relaxing and feeling a million miles from the hustle and bustle of work and home. Eating out in Lubrin - from tapas to a menu of the day - is exceptionally good value so you could be tempted to always dine out but then you'd miss out on the bread from one of the village bakeries and great fresh produce from the weekly market. Enjoyed the whole experience so much I'm planning to return next year.

Liked best: Location, accommodation and helpfulness of owners.
Liked least: Wasps when you were trying to eat outside - though this is being very pick and to be fair you are in countryside and owner did offer suggestions to help.

“A place you will never forget. Spectacular surroundings, privacy and friendliness.”
Reviewed 16 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We loved the cottage, the privacy and the friendliness. We enjoyed walking to Lubrin (5 minutes) for tapas or an evening meal and the market day. It's like a step back in time sitting in the cafe in the square with all the locals. The views when driving around the mountains are amazing, and you can be at the coast within 40 mins although once you are in the mountains you won't want to leave. This is the most relaxing holiday we have ever had. One of the highlights is being able to see the Milky Way, it is one of the best places to see the sky at night.

“tranquil idyllic place”
Reviewed 17 July 2013 for a stay in September 2012

Apartment Castallico, a pretty, spacious and peaceful place to stay. Lovely views of the hills, Lubrin village hidden from view but only a 3 minute walk away, has excellent a couple of tapas bars, bakers, butchers, small supermarkets, plus an excellent weekly market, This is a place to fall in love with. Hosts John and Mair provide all you need including detailed guides for rambling. Or you can just chill out reading in the sun on the beautiful terrace.
