It took a while to find the Gennaro Amitrano, hidden as it was in the maze of lovely little alleys in central Capri. So, unlike most restaurants in Capri, there was no sea view and the decor was minimilist. However, the food amply made up for the lack of view. We took the taster menu and enjoyed five wonderful courses, from the intriguing gazpacho soup , eggplant lasagna, delicious ravioli, fish with mushrooms and a delightful variation on creme brulee. The portions were not large, but all delicious and the service was impeccable.

This is a beautiful, tiny restaurant tucked far back in a sweet little back alley. It is easily found if you follow the tile signs. The food is incredible. A tasting menu gives either 5 of 7 courses (your choice) of small, amazing dishes that total up to an appropriately filling meal. Ate most the meal with my eyes closed to focus on the incredible flavors! Nothing strange or unfamiliar, just perfect seasonings and innovations on favorites, along with beautiful presentation and truly impeccable service. Bravo!

We read the reviews on trip advisor with a little bit of skepticism and wondered if this place could really be that good. It Is that good! We had the five course chefs menu. We started with an amuse bouche of turbot on artichoke that was good, but not truly remarkable. Then came a shrimp carpaccio dish that was really interesting with crunchy bits that got our attention. Next came the eggplant parmigiana that was otherworldly. This was followed by the coup de grace, cacio and Pepe style pasta with pear. It resembled soup dumplings and exploded in your mouth on biting into the pasta. It’s hard to explain in words, but it was so good that it made me cry. This was followed by an amberjack fish dish that was perfectly fine, but how do you follow one of the greatest food entrees you have ever had? Dessert was creative with a vanilla ravioli. They also matched the courses with wine and their choices were for the most part quite good. This is a real foodie spot with small portions of delicious food. The room is quite modest with only five nicely set tables and extremely attentive service. If you’re looking to have huge amounts of mediocre food, this will not be A good fit. If you want the finest gourmet food that Capri has to offer, this is the spot.

We came to this restaurant with another couples based on YELP reviews. The restaurant is located down a a tiny alley and is beautifully secluded. It is tiny-just 5 tables and a lovely retreat from the craziness of the Island. The menu was small but consisted of all locally sourced ingredients creatively prepared. Our server was very knowledgeable and anxious to please. We each ordered something different and were very pleased with our meals. This was one of the best meals we had on our trip-I highly recommend. Make reservations though because the word is getting out and it will be booked solid.

The restaurant was secluded down a small alley with windows that open on the alley.
The menu was original and consisted of all local ingredients. Perfect for people with a broad palate. We had the dessert highlighted in the picture. Creme Brulee ravioli. Delicious.

The Chef and his wife are owners and also attend to the dinner guests with charm and grace.

I can't wait to return.
