“Perfect peaceful holiday retreat”
Reviewed 2 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Casa de Freire is the most wonderful place to stay. The house has been beautifully renovated and is very well-appointed and comfortable, with a lovely garden complete with orange and lemon trees. A fantastic covered barbecue area provides the ideal place to eat and enjoy the view. There are plenty of towels and extra bed linen, and the kitchen is properly set up for cooking - we stayed for a week, and ate in every night...the outside terrace with its views of the sunset was just too nice! We barbecued most nights, but also used the hob and the oven. The owner's family lives close by and is very friendly and helpful. There is off-street covered parking.

The house is set on a hillside, amid fields of vines and other crops (almost every house nearby has its own plot for growing fruit and vegetables) and it is ideally located for a lot of local activities, in a "real" part of Spain which is not overrun with foreign tourists. It is a fifteen minute walk downhill to three local beaches - La Cobiña was our favourite. We swam in the sea at least once every day - the water is clear, calm and not too cold (although the temperature varied a bit).

Santiago de Compostela is about an hour's drive away; Cape Finisterre (Cabo Fisterra) about 1 hour and 45 minutes; and the beautiful Miño Valley is easily accessible, as are the nearby islands of Cíes (very well worth a trip - by boat from Cangas) and Ons.

We are already talking about when we might be able to go again!

“Better than advertised.”
Reviewed 19 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

My wife and I were very very happy with Casa de Freire during our 5 nights in early September. The quality of the renovations of this genuine farm villa was incredible, the attention to detail and workmanship was top flight; no detail was left out. Clean an rustic in design but with modern fixture and appliances it was more than we could have hoped for. If you are looking for a place with a bar and cafe in the same block or steps to the beach this is not it and it is in the hills but for us the feeling of being in the real Galician coastal village was dead on perfect. Oh and the views. Wow! Great sunset looking above many lush family farms and out into the bay was gorgeous and the night lights of Sanxenxo in the far distance are unforgettable. We found the town of Bueu (5 min by car) to provide all we wanted including fine seafood dinning, bars and tapas plus easily parking. To top it off the owners family was very helpful when we needed it most (upon arrival) and then gave us total privacy after that, super friendly. Bravo Carmen. A gem of a villa.

“Great accommodation within a superb setting”
Reviewed 10 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The pictures really don't make justice to the house and everything was better than expected. We had problems with our flight schedule and needed to meet with family members and this could have been a lot more trouble had it not been for the owner's brother-in-law who helped us through numbers of actions. Bueu is a wonderful small city and i highly recommend this house if you are visiting the galicia region (pontevedra is now my favorite city in the world). Appliances are great, and the location is perfect. The only negative point was the lack of internet access as i would have appreciated to be able to work during my stay but otherwise, i have absolutely no complaints.
