A friend told us that the owner put our favourite Indonesian dish Nasi Rames on the menu, only available on Saturday and Sunday. So we went, and... were absolutely blown away, wow!! This must have been the best Nasi Rames we've had in Thailand ever. It's like you are enjoying a mini-mini version of the well-known Indonesian Rijsttafel all on 1 plate. Truly delicious, and we'll be back again soon.
The restaurant has a real cosy atmosphere, service is impeccable, so what else is there to wish for?

Monoceros Resort consists of a series of high end cottages smartly designed and adjacent to each other is a rectangle surrounding the immaculate resort grounds. For only 1,500 baht per night you can experience a relaxed and pampered lifestyle amidst the busy and bustling area of Mae Raem. This place is a bit off the main road but once you're here, all the pressures of daily life seem to disappear. We came during the off-season and were given a 200 baht discount which is a steal in my book. We were also fortunate that it rained profusely all evening and all night which gave us an excuse to simply stay in our room and enjoy the cottage experience. The cottage itself is 5 star - everything is new and modern. The bed, the bathroom, the furniture, etc. And the room is absolutely bright and gorgeous. You like you're in the jungle given the lush vegetation surrounding you. And despite the cottages being next to each other, at no point do you feel any invasion of privacy. And the pool is luxurious... clean and well maintained. The staff here is professional and courteous. And the breakfast is lovely and satisfying. This is a high value resort experience and would gladly return here in the future without hesitation. This place caters to both families and couples.

For my sister’s 50 th birthday, we visited Monoceros resort. Paul, the owner/manager, was utterly helpful from the get-go. He arranged for drivers to and from the airport as well as for a tour around this area. A special shout-out to Kate, our lovely English-speaking driver, who took such good care of us (from a separate agency).

The bungalows at Monoceros are lovely. Since my sister snores like a buzzsaw, we opted to have separate bungalows, which Paul arranged to be side by side. They were spotlessly clean and stocked with basic essentials for the bathroom. There are channels in various languages available, including BBC World.

The nights out of Chiang Mai city can be chilly, so I’m glad I had brought some longer pyjamas and a fleece for the mornings. There are mosquitoes, so some insect repellent was needed in the evenings.

I haven’t been this relaxed in years! I can’t wait to find time to come back and just relax by the pool and enjoy the food. I was especially fond of the Northern Thai pork curry, which is flavoured with cinnamon. It was very unique and delicious.

Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. In fact, I look forward to it!

We stayed at Monoceros for three nights over Christmas and absolutely loved the Mae Rim area. However if we were able to visit again I don't think I'd choose this accommodation. The little 'cabins' are super cute however there are so many basic upgrades that could be made so guests have a better experience. For example the bed is rock hard (like sleeping on the floor), the pillows are also hard and flat with only one per person, the bath towels are frayed, old and the size of a dish cloth, there are holes in the flyscreens, and the shower is cold. The pool area has only four sun loungers so you don't have much chance of a place to relax, and the onsite restaurant is not the best. To top it off we were charged 500 bhat for a ride back to Chiang Mai, the driver was 30 minutes late and he took us to the airport instead of our next hotel. Do yourself a favor and sign up to Grab before arriving in Thailand... if only we'd known it was the best way to travel!

Quit, peaceful boutique retreat. Surrounded by lush green and original trees. Entertained by soothing birdsong. Right in the heart of the charming Mae Rim hills, whilst still easily accessible from town.
Cute private chalets that are spacious, comfortable, clean and above all maintained to perfection, supervised daily by the committed owners themselves.
All needs are taken care of by the well-trained, friendly and helpful staf.
Pleasant open-air restaurant is on standby all day to cater to your food desires, be it Asian or Western. Good quality.
The large, luxury pool also underscores the pretty visual appeal of this cozy little village hotel.
Enjoying our stay and ready for a repeat.
In net, a a place you can come to rest at, but is equally a convenient hub to plan many different possible day-trips from.
All in all, outstandingly good value for money.

Room tip: single chalets - all are equally sized and equally comfortable
