A community run cafe which served lovely hot chocolate on a cold day; if I lived there I would definitely volunteer.

It was someones front room (or seemed like it). Limited seating. Run by volunteers. But the decor and service and food quality was great. Very friendly.

Thank you for the kind words. Our volunteers are always delighted to read that their free time has been well spent!
The room was actually purpose built in 2010/11 as an extension to the shop so we could serve coffee, tea and cakes. A small kitchen was quickly added when we realized that their was enough demand for a proper cafe. It was designed to look like it had been there for centuries and has won some awards. Please come again.

Called in here for a drink and quick bite
Table hadn’t been wiped clean
Ciabatta I had was very nice although the salad and chickpea side needs improvement.
The coffee was nice
The Victoria sponge was a bit stale and I’ve never had one with a crust on the top.
Pleasant cafe with pleasant staff but could do with improving although it is run by volunteers.

This is a community run cafe adjacent to the village post office and store. There is always a warm welcome and friendly vibe. The knitting baskets offer a distraction for anyone wishing to contribute to the community charity project. The book exchange is not overwhelming, as is so often the case, and always looks tidy with up to date books for both adults and children.

Called in to this delightful cafe for tea and cake with my elderly Uncle
The service was good if a little inexperienced but the cake was delicious .The only thing that spoiled the experience was the extremely rude man serving in the attached shop
I certainly will not be patronising the shop again

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor and for the 4 star rating, despite your bad experience with the shop next door. We are a community run café and rely on many volunteers from in and around Mells to help keep the business running. This would probably explain the inexperienced service in the café for which we apologise.
We are not aware of the details of the incident you refer to but we have spoken to the sub-postmasters who manage both our shop and the separate Post Office business to remind them of their responsibility to be courteous at all times towards our customers. We are extremely sorry that the rudeness shown to you has put you off visiting us again but hope that if you are visiting your uncle again you might reconsider.

Yours sincerely,
David Sheridan (Volunteer)
