To set the scene. Our location for a week in September was a rustic 4 bedroom stonehouse villa nestled in an olive grove just below the hilltop Civatella del Lago, Umbria. Uninterrupted views of Lake Corbara below. This place was oozing in history. Lovingly restored by its owners of the last 40 years this villa was our base as we four friends explored Umbria. It was very comfortable inside with spacious bedrooms and modern bathrooms. We cooked delicious meals in the fully equipped kitchen, dined on the back balcony, barbecued on the side balcony under the grapevined pergola, swam in the pool, lazed around and enjoyed a glass of local wine. In our hire car we travelled to Assisi, Todi and Orvietto soaking up the culture and scenery on offer. Angella was our local contact and Susan the owner greeted us upon arrival. Both were very welcoming and contactable in case of emergency. There were no emergencies. The gallery pictures on Tripadvisor had given us high expectations. We were not disappointed. Our week's stay was exceptional and one day I will return.
