This was my third visit to le Calabash and I was not disappointed, it was more than I expected. The Dinner demonstration was second to none and the meal served was one of the best I have experienced this year. Abigail's Chocolates were the highlight of my visit. Will be back.

My husband and I just completed a week at Le Calabash Cooking School in France, and loved every minute of it.

From the moment you arrive you know you are in for a special week. Sidney and Alison are both professional chefs, and you are privy to all their years of experience working at some of the top hotels and restaurants in the world, not to mention the breadth of knowledge they bring, having lived in many different countries during their amazing careers. The passion with which they teach and the joy they share with you every day of your week long adventure cannot be overstated.

If you go to Le Calabash, be prepared to work hard, laugh a lot, learn more than you thought possible, and have some of the best food ever, much of it you prepared yourself! Each day brings a new challenge, and an opportunity to bond with the other students as you all try things you've never done, or learn a technique you always wondered about.

Since each course is slightly different, depending on season, number of students, new recipes, etc. we can't say exactly what you might experience, but our week included boning poultry, making souffles (yes, more than one in the same day), fileting fish, and the "piece de resistance", French macarons in three flavors. Oh la la....

Meals are plentiful and delicious, and the professional kitchen you work in makes you feel like a serious cook, even if you're not. The confidence you gain over the course of the week is a gift in itself, and you can't wait to return home to start putting into practice what you learned.

Accommodations nearby are comfortable and all transport is provided, making it easy and no need for a car.

Once you've been to Le Calabash, you'll want to sign up for another week cooking and exploring somewhere, maybe even with Sidney and Alsion at their school in South Africa. The other students in our class had been to the Africa adventure, and couldn't stop talking about it.

P.S. We found Le Calabash through Epitourean.com, and highly recommend looking at their website for more ideas, and specials they run during the year. And no, we don't work for them, but we are very glad we found them! because they led us to Le Calabash!

I returned on 9/23/17 from the most amazing week at Le Calabash, and it has taken me this long to figure out how best to convey my thoughts in a way that makes sense to others. Quite simply, it was one of the best weeks that I have even spent! The cooking classes alone are awesome. We learned about tools, techniques, ingredients and, of course, amazing recipes. But it's the beautiful setting of Le Calabash, and the surrounding villages and hamlets, farms and markets that leave a mark on your soul. Sidney & Allison Bond are Chefs-Extraordinare, and they invite you into their family while at Le Calabash. We were pampered at every meal, every outing, every engagement and while we might like to think we were special, we were not. The Bonds treat everyone like this, as you likely can see from the reviews...they are truly gracious, wonderful hosts. If you have the opportunity to visit Le Calabash - DO IT! If you don't have the opportunity, you'd best find one. You stomach, heart, and soul will thank you for it.
