Visited with my family and first impressions on entering the bungalow was a place that obviously had thought put in to how it looked. We have stayed in a variety of holiday let properties and this was the best we have found. Cleanliness throughout showed a pride in their property and was somewhere we enjoyed returning to after days out at the beaches or gardens in the area. Our 2 children loved it too and was ample room to relax. The kitchen had everything you needed. The beds were comfortable and the double bed was plenty big enough. Decent size bathroom which again was very clean indeed. Thank you for the bottle of wine and the tea, coffee and milk which was very welcome after a long journey!! The owners Hazel & Keith are very friendly and helpful and were keen make sure our holiday was relaxing and enjoyable.
Overall this is a place we would certainly return to, it is ideally situated to explore West Cornwall, with it's amazing beaches, history and beautiful gardens and the peace and quiet we enjoyed at the bungalow helped make this a fantastic holiday.
Thank you both and hope to see you again!
The site was very quiet . Just what we were looking for. Everything we had planed to do was never that far away. We met Hazel on the Saturday just after we had arrived and settled in . Lovely , friendly lady. The bungalow was so clean and homely that it made one feel it was like being at home.
very clean and comfort flat. owner is very kind and provide great and quick service when we need help. especially provide a large toy for my kid.
We arrived a few hours early and the owners Hazel and Keith were still cleaning out the accommodation ready for us so we decided to pop in and say hi. A lovely couple who made us feel at home straight away. The bungalow, although a bit dated looking from the outside, was beautiful inside with everything you would need + more for your holiday stay including a bottle of wine, milk in the fridge and tea/coffee/biscuits and sugar. It was spotlessly clean and fresh and a dishcloth, sponge, two tea towels and washing up liquid was provided. The great thing about this base is that it's close to quite a few main supermarkets. Just a few minutes drive away. Google map it!
Our holiday overall was just perfect. A lovely base, perfect weather and West Cornwall is beautiful. So many places to explore.
If you like mines there are the Crown Mines at Botallack, two mines perched on the edge of the cliff with the sea splashing all around. A favourite for photographers. Free car park and a lovely cafe too.
Look up Levent Mine too - car park fees apply here although if you don't mind walking go to Geevor Mines, park for free and walk to Levent.
Carn Galvor Mine - B3306 visible as ruins - car park is free.
Or if harbours are your thing these are lovely. Porthleven Harbour (great place to eat too!) and the car park was free after 4pm, Charlestown - tall ships, lots of cafes and crafts, Mevagissey Harbour - BEAUTIFUL!! So picturesque. Mousehole - gorgeous little place. VERY friendly cat - loves a tickle.
Here are some coves to explore!
Porthcurno Cove - if you go to the Minack Theatre the views onto the cove are stunning.
Cadwidth Cove - GREAT crab sandwiches! Bit pricey though at £7.50 a sandwich. From the car park you take the footpath into the village. Very pretty. Thatched cottages etc.. Lovely small beach/harbour. If you fancy some views from the top of the coastal path on your right you will come to The Devil's Frying Pan. There are signs so you can't miss it.
Lighthouse's - The coastal walk to Godrevy lighthouse is beautiful. We saw 11 seals swimming and sunning themselves. NT carpark tho. Worth paying the £6 for a whole day. We only paid £3 for 2 hours and wished we could have stayed longer.
Pendeen lighthouse - about six miles from Land's End and two miles from St. Just. The lighthouse isn't open to the public but the views from there are incredible!! A free car park and benches to sit while you admire the scenery.
Lizard Lighthouse and Heritage Centre - great views - car park £3 The centre itself is more geared to families/tourists and can be quite busy. If you have children take extra dosh! You'll need it.
Other places of interest. St. Michael's Mount, Tehidy Country Park (bluebells in April), Praa Sands - big sandy beach. The list is endless. :)
This cottage was perfect for our needs. I visited with my son and granddaughter and we were all impressed with it. It was spotlessly clean and well-stocked with everything we needed, but the little touches finished it off. Who doesn't need a cup of tea after a six hour drive? Well, we didn't need to worry because Hazel had thoughtfully left tea and coffee, as well as a pint of milk in the fridge.
We cooked a couple of times and had everything we needed in the tiny but perfect kitchen.
The location was great, with St Michael's Mount on our doorstep, and St Ives and Land's End both only 20 minutes away.
I would definitely recommend this lovely cottage to anybody looking for somewhere quiet to stay for a few days, although it may get busier as the season moves on.
