We spent a wonderful long weekend in the chateau: it has been beautifully renovated and we were lucky to be some of the first to stay since it was finished. It sits on top of a hill with fabulous views. It is large enough for everyone to have their own space and there is plenty to do: you can explore the vineyard, laze under the trees with a book, swim, play tennis. Ask for recommendations for local restaurants - there are plenty of beautiful villages to discover around the area, as well as vineyards and wine tastings, and numerous brocantes to explore. A wonderful place for families and groups of friends, for a long weekend or for a couple of weeks. Highly recommended.
I hesitated before writing this review- some gems you want to keep to yourself!
Chateau Prieure La Caussade is perfectly located in the heart of St. Emilion wine country. You can easily visit the famous chateaux as well as the lovely restaurants in the region. The Chateau comes with it's own vineyard which you can explore as well as the neighbouring ones.
The property comes with a pool and tennis court so it's perfect for a multi-family trip or a group of friends. The rooms are so well appointed you will think you are in a Relais & Chateaux.
We were lucky enough to meet the owners- a charming English couple that restored the property- they shared some wonderful advice on nearby restaurants and insight on some of the nearby Chateaux like Chateau Pavie, la Gaffeliere and most kindly put us in touch with Jeff from Chateau Samion: a small and beautiful vineyard- and if you visit you will discover that they have a very special link to Chateau Petrus.
If you are lucky enough to have a St-Emilion trip planned in the future I highly recommend that you book this property.
