“Comfortable, quiet, and convenient”

My wife and I especially enjoyed the roomy and sun-filled living-room cum kitchen, with a view of the small canal, and a good cooktop and oven with a pretty good collection of pans and utensils (the kitchens in rentals are often pretty limited, we've found). The apartment is clean an quiet, and it a pleasant walk on uncluttered "streets" to the vaporetto stop, which has convenient service whether you want to go to San Marco or Zattere (to get to Accademia and other museums), or the RR station/bus station. Grocery shopping a a couple of minutes away, and the apartment contains a rolling basket for easier shopping. There are several restaurants within walking distance too. We especially recommend Altanella, which is in fact closest to the apartment.
In staying on Giudecca, you do need to factor in the cost of the vaporetto (we paid 90 euros each for a 7-day plus a 2-day pass), but it is worth it to get away from the crowds after a day of touristic pursuits. And once you have the pass, you can take as many boats as you like, and it also covers the bus to the airport.

Thank you very much for your review. Just to clarify for the benefit of guests who are considering making a booking, if you want to take the express bus that goes to either Marco Polo airport or Treviso airport you do have to buy a ticket for the journey. This is because the company that operates the buses is not the same company that runs the vaparetto system around Venice. Travel on the express buses to the airports is not covered by the vaparetto ticket. It might well be that you can use the vaparetto ticket for travel on the orange municipal bus that goes to the airport, but you would have to enquire locally to confirm this. Although travel on the express buses involves an extra cost, it is worth it because the buses go directly to the airports and you can stow your luggage away without having it cluttering up the seating area. The express bus is more convenient and quicker than the "Alilaguna" boat that travels between Venice and Marco Polo airport.

“Close to Venice .... but not too close”
Reviewed 2 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

A spacious, secure apartment just a very short boat ride from the main sites/sights. It was great to get away from the crowds and touristy atmosphere of the main island.
Booking was easy with Neil (we received our deposit back with no probs at all). Arrival was pleasant with Catarina, once we caught the correct vaporetto (look for the pointy end to work out which direction they are going). Travel was simple with a 7 day vaporetto pass, our favourite trip was up and down the Grand Canal at the front of the number 2 route in the sunshine. Cooking was simple with everything required in the kitchen in the apartment and a reasonably priced supermarket (closed Sunday afternoon), nearby.
Restaurant between the apartment and the boat stop was friendly as was the one through the boat yard on the other side of the canal. Neither were cheap however.
Only thing to be mindful of is the bus transfer between Marco Polo airport and Palazza Roma - the express bus (space for suitcases) requires a different ticket to the slow bus included with the vaporetto pass.
Thanks Neil for keeping your apartment to a reasonable price - we had a lovely time in Venice.

“Ideal situation”
Reviewed 28 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We took Alilaguna ferry from airport to Molino Stuccy stop and walked back to Palanca to meet Catarina who showed us everything we needed. The apartment is a delight - everything we needed in way of comfort and equipment, as well as stunning views from our breakfast table. Peaceful setting and only a short walk through to Giudecca Canal and vaporetto stops.

“A modern and comfortable apartment away from the hustle and bustle.”

Neil was helpful before we booked the apartment. Catarina was helpful in pointing out the various facilities in and around the apartment. Because we arrived early and left late, it was helpful that they were flexible with the times that we arrived and left, as the apartment had not been booked immediately before or after us. The view from the apartment was like an Athena poster! The kids really enjoyed having the WiFi available and it meant that we could also listen to radio 2. The kids were on a full size inflatable bed and a Z-bed, which were very comfortable and we managed to squeeze all four of us into the one bedroom with some rearranging of the furniture, which we put back afterwards. This meant us parents had some time to ourselves in the evenings in the main room. The local Coop was very handy and reasonable prices; Peroni 660ml bottles were on offer at 69 cents!! We recommend the 1 week Vaporetta passes and made the most of them, exploring the many islands around Venice and the Venice film festival was also on at the Lido whilst we were there. We would definitely book again.

“Perfect for us: we'd go back tomorrow if we could!”
Reviewed 12 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We (me, my partner and our 13 year old daughter) felt so fortunate to have found this apartment! After the noise and bustle of Venice on a warm August day, it was perfect to come back to this cool, clean, nicely-furnished, and quiet home on the lovely Giudecca. I wish we could go back right away.

The kitchen and bathroom facilities are very good and well maintained: we cooked dinner in the apartment three of the nights we stayed. The living area has a comfy sofa, and a TV with some DVDs to watch (much appreciated by our daughter). From the dinner table, there's a beautiful view over a canal, and we enjoyed hearing and watching the boats coming and going. We found the bed super-comfy, and our daughter slept well in the spare bed. There's air conditioning, too.

Giudecca was, we thought, the perfect place to stay. It's tourist-friendly, but it feels like, and is, a *real* place, with people getting on with their lives: lots of children and cats and dogs about. There's a good-sized supermarket, and plenty of other little shops, and ample restaurants and bars, especially along the front of the island (from which there is a *beautiful* view). We spent a lovely afternoon wandering about Giudecca itself: there are great views and many small art galleries to explore. It's also very easy and quick (just a couple of minutes) to get from Giudecca to the rest of Venice on the vaporetto and the owner's instructions for getting to and from the airport were great: it's a really straightforward trip. The owner's agent/friend was there to meet us when we arrived and was friendly and helpful.
Our deposit was returned very promptly, too.

In short: I’d recommend this apartment unreservedly. In fact, I wish I was there right now!

Thank you for your lovely review. I look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Thank you for your comments about the comfy spare bed. In the past, some enquirers who had been thinking of making a booking seemed sceptical when I told them that the spare beds that we have for families with children are very comfortable. I hope anyone reading this in the future will feel assured by your comment that they are!

I try hard to ensure that all my guests have a wonderful holiday and I am delighted to know that you did.
