If you want matching bedspreads & modern fitted furniture then don't come here, however, if you want character, olde world charm & a warm welcome then this is the place to come. We stayed for two nights & really enjoyed our stay. The Landlord (Chris) & the locals couldn't have made us more welcome. We went B & B & the full English was just that. Wifi wasn't great in the room but worked fine downstairs in the bar.

We stayed for a couple of nights, our room was big, even room for a sofa in front the tv which was very handy indeed. The ensuite shower room was excellent, recently refurbished to a very high standard, the shower cubicle is a 'one and a half' size which gives ample turning space!! Could have done with a heated towel rail as I guess it may be chilly in there in the depths of winter.

Our only problem with the room was the bed, it's a memory foam one, which if, like me, you have chronic back pain then it's impossible to sleep in, thankfully there's a standard single bed in the room as well, so that was used instead. This is the only negative thing we can say about the room.

Chris, the landlord, is amazing, he's such a jolly chap and a very good breakfast cook too, nothing was too much trouble for him, we felt very much at home.

The Hooky beer is excellently kept, his cellar skills cannot be faulted that's for sure. I found the room on the right hand side of the front door to be too cold, so we tried to sit in the smaller 'front bar', the back bar seemed to be the haunt of the locals watching sport on the telly, so we left them to it.

The food menu, whilst compact, is of very good quality and we could not fault what we had at all.

Have no problems in recommending this traditional pub accommodation to anyone, though if you're looking for 'boutique' or 'luxury' accommodation then this may not be for you, but if you want a good honest, no frills, friendly pub B&B then this is the place to go.

If we have another function in the area, then this is where we shall phone first for a room.

Chris and Sandra are wonderful - they are welcoming and hosts brilliant folk music weekends at the pub.

Went here last night for a beer having travelled all day and forest time in the area.

I sat in the main bar and I can quite honestly say I have seldom with met such a lovely bunch of locals. Everyone very friendly and keen to share their knowledge of the local area. Pop here, don't be shy and Mir, you'll be rewarded.

Thank Holja
