“Comfortable, well equipped cottage for the perfect relaxing break”
Reviewed 25 March 2018 for a stay in March 2018

Great cottage with stunning sea views. Great access to a fabulous coast with stunning beaches. Whilst Cresswell is a quiet sleepy village you have great access to a great coast. In easy walking distance is the excellent Drift Cafe with great coffees, snacks and cakes. Had a great week and when back in Northumberland again we will certainly be checking the availability of Anchor Cottage. The owners also keep in touch to make sure all good, so great customer service thank you.

We're delighted that you enjoyed the amazing views and the beach! After a long walk on Druridge Bay it's great to reward yourself with a hot chocolate and home made cake at the Drift Cafe, behind the dunes. Thanks for leaving the cottage so immaculate - we look forward to welcoming you back !

“Cosy Luxury”
Reviewed 7 March 2018 for a stay in February 2018

Excellent location. Helpful owners. Property furnished to a very high standard, spacious and with great views. We were there in the snow and once we mastered the central heating (slightly frustrating that it resets automatically at several points in the day) it was very cosy - enhanced by the log burners.

We were pleased to hear that you found the cottage so very cosy, despite your visit coinciding with the extraordinary weather event that was nicknamed 'the Beast from the East'! Blizzards are a real rarity so close to the sea, and your photos of Cresswell in the snow looked amazing - we wish we could've seen it for ourselves. The manual for the central heating is in the guest folder and it can be set permanently to any chosen temperature. Glad we were able to help you out with a complimentary extra night when the deep snow delayed your departure. Thanks for leaving the cottage so beautifully clean - you're welcome back anytime !

“Switch off and relax at this lovely cottage”
Reviewed 15 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

Northumberland is a beautiful area for rest and relaxation, with stunning beaches and beautiful countryside. Anchor Cottage is well placed to take advantage of this, sitting right next to the start of the Northumbrian Coastal Path. The cottage has been perfectly restored (as documented by the picture library in the guest book!). The quality of finish is excellent and all the rooms furnished to a high standard. It was great to open the blinds and see the sea from the bedroom each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed the wood burning stove, being November, although the weather was unseasonably sunny which allowed us to walk every day! All the facilities functioned very well which made for a easy and very comfortable stay. The very popular Drift Café was a 5 minute walk up the road, though a car was required to reach any other 'watering holes'. A lovely place to stay for some rest and recuperation.

“Lovely, cosy cottage with great sea views and walks.”
Reviewed 6 November 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We had a lovely long weekend at Anchor Cottage. We stocked up in Morpeth on the way through as there is not a great deal of shopping nearby and headed off. The cottage is great for just mooching down on the beach, which is just under the kitchen window, or if you want to travel to some of the the local attractions then most can be reached in less than an hour. We went to Bamburgh, Seahouses and Alnwick but there are lots of other things to do not far away. We enjoyed just relaxing in the big kitchen with a coffee and sitting out the back in the evening watching the sea and chatting to some of the neighbours. The house itself is perfect with a lovely cottage feel but very modern equipment, you can relax in a nice warm bath at the end of a chilly day or sit out in the sunshine. The wood-burning stoves are lovely to relax with a book when the weather isn't great, too. Would absolutely recommend and would stay again if in that neck of the woods again.

The bench on the Bank Top is addictive, isn't it ? You can sit for hours and watch the ever-changing view. Hot chocolate sounds like a good idea too. Really glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Anchor Cottage.
