This is a clean, excellently positioned property. Everything we needed was there and so much more too...we had a fantastic time and I can thoroughly recommend Rufus Cottage. Some reviews have mentioned the soft pillows which is true but this is largely a case of personal taste. If you like a firm pillow, perhaps slip one into the car for safety!
We were a little concerned when we discovered that there is a pub on the other side of the car park and wondered whether we would be disturbed at night. But no, all was quiet and the pub sells some lovely food so cooking wasn't a necessity either.
This property "does what it says on the tin" and we loved it. Indeed, we hope to come back again in the future.

From the moment we first enquired about this cottage to the moment we closed the door at the end of our holiday, everything was absolutely perfect.

My husband and I took our dog Oscar. David, the owner had been very helpful prior to our arrival. We asked if he would mind our friends staying for one night during the week. They did not mind at all and even left extra bedding for the day bed.

The cottage is spotless. Everything you needed was provided. Very comfortable beds and good quality bedding. We enjoyed breakfast in the lovely Conservatory.
The Kitchen was very well equipped.

The area was ideal, just a short walk from the New Forest with plenty of open spaces for Oscar. Right next to a lovely pub where we enjoyed a few meals.

We were there mainly to visit friends and family, but did manage to have a couple of days sight seeing and there was plenty to do in the surrounding area.
We will certainly be back next year. Have already recommend the cottage to friends and family.
Thank you very much David and Sara for an excellent stay.

“Nice cottage, Great location”
Reviewed 21 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

RUFUS COTTAGE is very well equipped and comfortable, the Happy Cheese pub resteraunt is a short walk across the bridge and provides 1st class food and drinks, kids & dogs welcome.
The cottage is well located or easy access to the new forest, with Ashurst Station next door you do not need a car. Very quiet and off the main road we had a lovely relaxing weekend, taking the train to Winchester was very pleasant and totally stress free, there is a big market at Lymington on Saturdays and a craft market in Winchester on Sundays both easily accessible by road or train. You may even have a pony turn up in your garden.

“Fantastic!!”
Reviewed 13 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Rufus cottage is absolutely perfect for a new forest break, well equipped and close to everything you would need to see...even a pub next door!!
We stayed for 4 nights with our 3 year old daughter, visited Paultons park, all the surrounding villages and had some fantastic meals out and cosy nights in.
The communication between David is great, he's there to answer any questions if you need him, but there's none of the awkward 'cottage owner there to meet you when you get there' kind of stuff as it is all done over email/phone.
Would recommend Rufus cottage to anyone, we can't wait to visit again!
