This was just the perfect place to celebrate my wife's birthday. In total, we were 11 of us and so took the whole place over. A short walk down to Slade beach, a slightly longer one to Horton and then a 5 minute car journey to Oxwich - so great location.
Facilities were all great and the owner very welcoming - allowing us to stay longer than the official checkout time as no-one coming in that day - so very relaxed.
Have already booked for next year!
Where to start?!
We had a wonderful time at Slade Barn over the Bank Holiday weekend. Everything was perfect: from the excellent communication from Martin, to the quality of the accommodation and lovely personal touches to make us all feel at home.
Martin was there to greet us on arrival, giving us useful tips on where to go (along with a great folder of useful stuff in the Barn), then left us to it.
If you're looking for a secluded but central location in the Gower, then Slade Barn is the place to stay! 10 mins walk to what feels like your own private beach with views of the sea from the garden.
Very dog friendly too with the garden fenced in. The quality of the barn was excellent throughout. Tastefully renovated, well kitted out and very comfortable for all.
I would highly recommend.
A beautifully converted barn, which was clean and very well equipped. A warm and friendly welcome from Martin. The complementary goodies of milk, marmalade, waffles and Prosecco were very much appreciated as was the detailed information manual.
The barn is in a quiet hamlet and in a perfect location for exploring The Gower. There are many coastal and woodland walks to enjoy and we were lucky to see so many wildflowers in full bloom, especially the bluebells, red campion and wild garlic.
We had a short three night break here with our dogs on the recommendation of a friend who'd previously visited.
Everything exceeded our expectations, from the warmest of welcomes from Martin, down to the attention and detail of everything in the cottage designed with guests' comfort in mind including prosecco in the fridge, very naughty toffee waffle biscuits (melt them on top of your coffee mugs, mmm!!!), fresh flowers, personalised welcome folder, the gorgeous bathrooms with Ren toiletries - just heavenly.
The walk down to the coastal path is right opposite and took just minutes to walk down and there's a lovely sandy cove to explore or perhaps continue along the path and just drink in the amazing views.
We've had a fabulous time and Martin and Jamie deserve all the accolades for this gem of a rental - thanks guys!
We visited for a week with friends and their two boys. The barn was comfortable, clean and very well equipped. The under floor ground source heating kept us very cosy, so we didn't need to light the wood burner, though this would be a lovely feature in the winter.
Martin made us feel really welcome and provided comprehensive information, guide books and local maps. The welcome gifts of wine, flowers, bread and biscuits were a nice touch.
There are many footpaths, including the coast path, just a few minutes walk from Slade Barn, so it was possible to explore extensively without using the car. A short journey by car took us to the magnificent Rhossili beach and Downs.
A great spot for quiet relaxation, fresh air, flowers, birds, walking, beach.... we hope to return.
