This is actually the second review I've written for Graig Cottage, as sadly due to bereavement, previous review was lost. I'm delighted to be able to help by re-submitting a review for what was an absolutely fantastic cottage, in wonderful area.
The cottage itself is one of a pair, one is dog friendly, the other pet free. The garden was secure, and had off road parking, so immediate needs fully met!
The cottage itself is cozy and warm. Really well appointed kitchen (even had sharp knives which is I think the best measure of a holiday rental), meant we could cook easily and well. Utility/boot room was fantastic for all our boots and coats as yes, we did get some rain.
There was plenty of room in the cottage for our family of four and the beds were really comfortable, shower very powerful (another good rental test passed).
There are wonderful walks easily possible from the cottage, and we also climbed Pen Y Fan whilst there - a real achievement, even though we were walking in snow at times, we had a great time.
The local town of Pontardawe is well equipped with a big Tesco - but also head into the town for more local produce. The butcher in particular was outstanding!
The other thing that made our stay in Cwmshon so special was the welcome we received from the owner. We arrived to a warm bara brith and Fiona was always on hand with guidance and advice on walks. Nothing was too much trouble.
I would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a getaway break, even more so for those who enjoy time in the kitchen - you'll have everything you need.
We enjoyed our stay as a family get together very much. The house has character, the cottages are spacious, well equipped and comfy. The host was lovely and some of her comments and knowledge is still influencing my life today. Did you know that a bee produces only 1 teaspoon full of honey in its lifetime? You will eat your next honey with more respect!
My wife and I stayed at Rock Cottage for a few nights while exploring some of the cycle routes in the Swansea area. The cottage is very comfortable and is located very close to national cycle route 43. We were made to feel very welcome during our stay and are happy to recommend it. During your stay don't miss the opportunity to explore some of the waterfalls that are scattered all around this part of Wales.
We stayed as a family of 7 with 4 young children a few summers back. The cottage had everything we needed and was very clean with a well equipped kitchen.
We had a lovely stay. The owners were very helpful, welcoming and friendly.
Pontardare was chosen because three of us wanted a base from which to explore various locations in South Wales. It was a real pleasure to enter this cottage when we
arrived and to appreciate the details of its refurbishment - later explained when we met Peter. The bathroom and shower are luxurious beyond our normal experience! It was a beautiful temporary home to return to after our trips.
Instructions on the running details of the house are full, so also is the information about local attractions.
Shopping for groceries requires a car drive to Tesco's or Lidl - maps available.
The induction hob on the oven may be a bit strange for some but it quickly becomes
This is a beautiful and welcoming cottage.
