Organised a side trip to Lake Mungo and arranged to stay at Mungo Lodge. Rented the large family cabin, which was huge, with oven and island kitchen. Nice views out the back of the sunset. The drive there takes about 90 mins on dirt and sandy roads, so not for anyone uncomfortable with these conditions. If it rains then the road closes. Didn't eat at the restaurant but from the looks of it they've sunk a lot of money into this place, quite well set up.

Room Tip: Cabin 17 is the largest self-contained cabin, all the others are duplex.

This is the only alternative for those not wanting to camp in Mungo National park. As we were a family of 5 we required two rooms so it was extremely costly at around $560 a night, but it's great being able to explore Mungo and head back to nearby lovely accommodation. The atmosphere in the restaurant is beautiful, with big open fire place and we had a great meal and a really good bottle of red! We found the lodge quite overpriced, but took into consideration how remote it is, and we left with a great memory.

great place to visit glen and Rebecca go out of their way to accommodate you 10 minute drive if that to mungo information centre and well worth getting hooked up with a tour to the walls of china and then go for a self drive on the 70km round trip of the park,

We are not campers so Mungo Lodge is the comfortable alternative for an overnight stay to get the most out of a visit to Mungo National Park. The Lodge is very close to the park. It provides very comfortable accommodation. The restaurant is OK - should not expect too much at such a remote location, but they offer a small selection of good meals. There is no mobile phone or internet connection. It's more expensive than similar motel accommodation in larger centres, but the cost of providing such accommodation in such a remote location can't be cheap. The management were very flexible with our travel plans which were dictated by whether the road to Mungo was open.

Room Tip: The cabins are located in a crescent, all convenient to the main lodge building.

Called in for a coffee after spending the day at the Sandhills. The dining area was gorgeous, spotlessly clean and so comfortable. It would be lovely to go when the big fires were roaring. Dinner menu sounded lovely but we were camping at the adjoining campground so didn't stay.
