Mungo Lodge is a great place to stay, the owner was there when we arrived, he was front reception, bartender, waiter and all round great bloke. He gave us his car to drive for a small fee as we flew in. The cabins were very comfortable and clean and meals in the restaurant were very good. A fantastic time had in Mungo.

Room Tip: Any room is great

Stayed in a cabin for 2 nights over the weekend whilst visiting the national park.

The cabins are semi-detached in lots of two, but as they were maybe only half full everyone was thoughtfully assigned to only the even numbered rooms so no neighbours next door to potentially disturb each other!
Was very clean and very well maintained with ironing board and kettle.

There was a goon bag box of water in the fridge, but the tank sourced tap water was filtered and is also potable.

Food was good, but as the chef is a one man show be prepared to wait ~1hr between ordering and service.

Staff were really friendly and helpful, with obviously a great deal of experience.

For timing of tours at Mungo I suggest you go to the visitor centre and check directly as the times were changed depending upon the day and heat.

Mungo Lodge is great outback accommodation with good country food and great hosts. Bec and Glen took over the management this year and add character and warmth to what is an expensive but genuine outback experience.
The cabins are divided in two so you are at the mercy of your neighbour. Ours were generally quiet except for the violin practice the young boy had to do at 7am every morning. Luckily, he wasn't too bad :) There were no maintenance issues as suggested in a previous review (eg. new screens).
Bec is cleaner and cook, and will pretty much adjust the menu to what you want. Helpings are plentiful and no one leaves hungry. We also ate breakfast there but without a menu and a "what do you want" question, we realised later there was much more on offer than just bacon and eggs! Still, they were great bacon and eggs and Glen makes espresso coffee if you ask (for an extra cost).
You can get away with just one night here easily but two made it relaxing. Sept/Oct is a great time of year as not too hot and Mungo Lodge is worth stopping in at, even if only to say hi to the fabulous hosts.

Our party of 5 stayed 2 nights at the Lodge to make the Mungo National Park visit.
It was very clean and comfortable in this remote location, quite expensive with the food satisfactory. Unfortunately we were incorrectly advised of the start time of the guided tours - so missed this.

We booked a self catering accommodation - its called 'budget' but really the price isn't so - the managers running the lodge are very helpful at all times and the beer was cold at the end of long days , the lodge restaurant area and bar with large fireplace is beautiful and sitting on the large back deck great!
the cottage was accommodation that requires some work - positives the bed was very comfortable , the shower nice and hot , but the cottage is not up to standard - the owner needs to review this situation and refurbish the cottages used for the self catering traveller - please look at the furnishings, the largish holes in the fly screens that need replacing and the general maintenance and painting required for the cottage - review the insulation also - its cold and the reverse cycle is not effective when the cold is coming up from the ground through the masonite floor.

Room Tip: Given the current state of the self catering accommodation don't book until improvements made.
