We have just returned from a one week stay at the Basking Shark, what can I stay, we loved it, the valley that the cottage is in is so peaceful and the views are breathtaking!!! The cottage is small but big enough for 2 and has everything you need, the only thing I felt it needed extra was a table outside so we could eat in the garden. The beach is a short walk from the cottage and again is beautiful, the village has lovely places to eat and the people are all very friendly. Brian the caretaker came to check we were OK on arrival and brought us a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely touch! The sunsets are amazing and the whole place is so relaxing, we have fallen in love with the place!! I would recommend that you make use of Peter and his Tractor as the walk to the car is steep and I wouldn't like to attempt to carry my luggage up it!!!
Honestly a beautiful place.
Stunning quiet location, quirky seaside cottage. Underfloor heating makes this cottage very toasty in the colder months. We stayed for a week in January (me, wife, 3 month old, and our dog wilson)
The walk up and down the valley to get to the cottage is a bit tough with a baby in tow! we have a baby carrier so it wasn't too bad just stop now and then to take in the view, but this would be much harder in just a car seat (definitely not possible in a pram even our bugaboo!) I would advise using the tractor/4X4 service for luggage no matter how macho you believe you are!!
The only thing I would advise to make things easier is bring your own non stick frying pan as the one provided isn't the best for eggs. Other than this it is a very nice place to stay and I will be back again.
