“A blissful countryside hideaway, in close proximity to many of Umbria and Tuscany's main sites”
Reviewed 22 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

The calm this place induces is present from the moment you turn off the A1, and begin your ascent up through Fabro, on route to Pian di Frattina. Turning off the minor road to climb up Pian di Frattina's drive, the landscape is stunning; Umbria at its best. Driving through the main gates and switching off the car engine, the shrill din of cicadas filled our ears. A good start.

Paolo (the owner) met us immediately, and showed us our ground floor apartment. It was refreshingly cool after enduring the July Umbrian sun for a few hours in the car. The apartment was spotless, and decorated traditionally. Paolo had also taken the liberty of gifting us some local olive oil and wine from the region, which both were excellent. The living room opens up (via a set of double doors) onto a veranda overlooking the valley, with hilltop towns just visible on the horizon. A few meters away is the swimming pool; again very clean, and a nice place to relax after a day of visiting local towns, sampling middle-Italian delights etc.

This is the ideal place to spend a few days or weeks, providing a good starting point to visit Umbria and Tuscany, or just to while away days reading poolside. Paolo and his family were excellent and friendly hosts, and we have been in contact with them since returning to the UK. We will be back!
