Our guide took us to the mirante, or overlook, so we could get a larger picture of the Brazilian savannah. It's not jaw-dropping, but we appreciated the chance to look out for miles, watching the fog roll in and out. We also saw green and red macaws flying low across the valley. The people-watching is great, too. There's a small, unmarked, concrete monument marking the geographical center of South America to your right as you look over the valley. But there's also a larger monument in Cuiaba that claims the same. See both of them!
