This castle is fantastic! A step back to mid-evil times.....you can xplore the entire castle to your hearts content. There is a place near the top of the castle you can share a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset over the mountains. The views from our room were incredible. We enjoyed strolling the small streets of the village sharing buonaseras with the residents. There is a small restaruant where you can get home made pizzas and friendly conversation with the owners.

All that is really secondary to the excellent hospitability provided by the owner; Pietro. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy and had everything we could want or need to make our stay perfect.

I highly recommend the Castle for a stay. If you want to step back in time and experience history, the Castello Malaspina di Fosdinovo is the place for you.

I've been there invited by the two lovely ownners Maddalena and Pietro for a weekend session of creative writing. the castle is a special place to live in the middle of the nature, seeing the sea by the window, in very confortable rooms.
all the people was cool, the food was fantastic and everything was clean and organized.
I think is the best place to write, alone, but also to spend time with friends and chldren.
and if you are interested in ghosts and mystery stories, this is your place: my ghost knock me twice, but very gently...

Room Tip: best place to write, alone, but also with friends

We were there for three days and we would come back again as soon as possible.
The hotel is located on the top of a hill and you can see the wonderful panorama of the sea and the far profile of the Cinque Terre. We suggest to enjoy it specially at the sunset.
The owner of the castle were very charming and nice and they helped us with all the suggestions that we needed. A fantastic breakfast with local products was served in the magnificent medieval hall.

Getting on top of this high hill, entering a big stone village door into a perfectly kept Italian Castle, reach the walks on its walls and be surprised by the endless view to the sea!
How often does that happen?!
The whole place makes you go back in time all the way to the middle ages but at the same time the kindness and warmth of its owners and the sweet terrace garden populated by old tortoises makes it yet real cozy!
It may sound odd, but in the general restauration of the place I particularly enjoyed tha bathrooms, very beautiful!
