Great stay!

Review of Rayavadee
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks ago
Great hotel surrounded by a jungle (where we got lost a few times…!) with plenty of monkeys!
We have never enjoyed a swimming pool so huge! It was the highlight of our stay (jellyfish in the sea but that was not annoying).
We also enjoyed a trip to Koh phi phi via the hotel, they took really good care of us and we felt privileged! The spa was also really nice, perfect Thai massage! We enjoyed a dinner at the Grotto, the tomahawk was perfect!
We enjoyed our stay but we must admit that we were not expecting so many tourists to land on the beach in front of the hotel! (Not as quiet as could claim the advertising video on the website…)

Dear Nico-Anneso,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us on Trip Advisor.

We are glad you loved the resort and appreciated Koh Phi Phi trip via the hotel, our spa treatments as well as dinner at the Grotto.

Regarding your comments on the beaches, it is true that there are no private beaches in Thailand so while our resort borders two of Thailand's most beautiful beaches (Railay and Phranang), our guests have to share the space with other visitors to the area. On certain days and at certain times, the beach can become busy with outside visitors but as you say, the entire area is very peaceful and tranquil in the mornings and late afternoons.

We hope we have the chance to welcome you back again!

Kind Regards,

Songpop Songboon

Beautiful place to stay in Krabi-access to the three beaches was the best. Kayaks available, great beaches, nice accommodations , great a/c, good food. Walking street close by very entertaining. The path around the grounds can be a bit confusing but all part of the adventure! Book it now!

Room tip: Just a great place to stay-highly recommend!

We had a very relaxing stay at Rayavadee. The grounds of the resort are absolutely stunning and the 'rooms' are actually small two storey buildings that are very comfortable and well designed. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming.

The only thing that put a dampner on the trip for us was the price of food, drink and excursions at the resort. There aren't many other options nearby so we did end up eating most of our meals onsite. The prices are at least 2 or 3x more prices for Thailand, and more than we would even expect to pay in the UK. For example, one Pad Thai was THB790 (£17), a couple of bottles of sparkling water at dinner cost over £10 (no free water options). Our meal at the Grotto cost £240 for 3 courses and 2 cocktails. The food was no where near the best we had in Thailand. We ended up booking a local provider for a private excursion as Rayavadee were charging more than double the local provider for a shorter excursion. We expect to pay a premium for being in a luxury resort but the level of overpricing left a bad taste in our mouth - we've stayed at luxury resorts all over Asia and South America and never seen prices like this. I'm not sure we would come again on this basis.

Absolutely memorable stay. Rayawadee is my favorite hotel in Thailand, and the quality of service never fails to impress me everytime. The decor and interior design is extremely elegant and tasteful, combining different styles and inspiration from all over the globe highlighting our tropical asian heritage. Garden landscape, walk ways, brings me back to Henri Rousseau’s paintings. I never want to leave.

About an hour transfer from Krabi airport by 40 mins minibus and 20 mins boat, and because the tide was out, by tractor and trailer up the beach!

Rooms were spacious two story suites, we didn’t have a pool, but some do. Fully air conditioned and a welcome break from the heat and humidity. So you are effectively in your own part of the ground making it very quiet and peaceful.

Pool area was clean and spacious with a nice area overlooking the beach. Loungers, towels, cold water and ice lollies were provided.

All the restaurants on site were really good offering a nice variety of food. The Grotto definitely one for a special night out, get there before sunset for some stunning photos. We had the seafood platter to share which was delicious.

The Krua Phranang is more Thai specialised and was probably the best food we had.

What makes the place special are the staff. So polite, helpful and welcoming. Our room was spotless and there was a turndown service each evening. Towels etc were replaced as often as needed.

In the restaurants and bars they quickly got to know you and where you like to seat and what to drink. All helps you feel special.

The beaches are shallow, sandy and safe (no patrols) with canoeing and boarding if desired.
Sunset on Railay beach is beautiful and you can also take boats out to see the islands.

There is some great wildlife. 3 different troups of monkeys (some cuter than others!) some pretty impressive lizards, massive snails, even a tortoise!

Room tip: We did have tropical storms so listen to the locals
