Wondering where to go for a family meal on Easter Sunday, and decided to ring China Cottage to see A. If it was opened. B. If they had space C. If they were still serving their Sunday Buffet. The answer to all questions was yes, so I booked a table for 8 people. On arrival we noticed the restaurant has had a make over...lovely and fresh decor. We were shown to our table which had been pre laid with fresh white linen and proper napkins. The buffet consists of chicken and sweetcorn soup, dim sum, choice of main, ice cream and coffee all for £8.99. All is waiter service, they bring the soup, once gone ask if you want more...which we all did, then brought out trays of dim sum. This consisted of spring rolls, kebabs, spare ribs and crispy rice. Again once eaten they brought out another tray. After this is the main, I had chicken in black bean sauce, others had sweet and sour pork, spicey beef and beef and vegetables, there were other choices. You have a choice of rice or noodles and we ordered both between us. After this you are asked if you want another main, 4 of our party did ...no extra charge! Final course is ice cream and coffee . Very full at the end of the meal. Absolutely delicious. Service was good ...no long waits between courses. Drinks, only bottles of beer served so work out quite expensive £3.30 a bottle. Will definitely book again. Don't try to just turn up as on Sunday it is busy for the buffet ....book beforehand. Excellent food, excellent value!
