Wondering where to go for a family meal on Easter Sunday, and decided to ring China Cottage to see A. If it was opened. B. If they had space C. If they were still serving their Sunday Buffet. The answer to all questions was yes, so I booked a table for 8 people. On arrival we noticed the restaurant has had a make over...lovely and fresh decor. We were shown to our table which had been pre laid with fresh white linen and proper napkins. The buffet consists of chicken and sweetcorn soup, dim sum, choice of main, ice cream and coffee all for £8.99. All is waiter service, they bring the soup, once gone ask if you want more...which we all did, then brought out trays of dim sum. This consisted of spring rolls, kebabs, spare ribs and crispy rice. Again once eaten they brought out another tray. After this is the main, I had chicken in black bean sauce, others had sweet and sour pork, spicey beef and beef and vegetables, there were other choices. You have a choice of rice or noodles and we ordered both between us. After this you are asked if you want another main, 4 of our party did ...no extra charge! Final course is ice cream and coffee . Very full at the end of the meal. Absolutely delicious. Service was good ...no long waits between courses. Drinks, only bottles of beer served so work out quite expensive £3.30 a bottle. Will definitely book again. Don't try to just turn up as on Sunday it is busy for the buffet ....book beforehand. Excellent food, excellent value!

Was treated by our daughter to a evening meal out. Knowing our fondness of Chinese food, she took us to this cosy restaurant. It was wonderful, well decorated in a modern style. The service was very good and the food excellent. Not had Chinese dishes as good as this since spending eight months in the Far East many years ago. They were very kind to our three year old granddaughter too.

Great value at £8.99 pp great food loads to choose from the set menu, simply order what you want and as often as you like .
Staff are very attentive and dont leave plates piling up .
You will need to book as it fills fast its not the biggest of places and can get warm and cozzy for all .
Interia is a tad dated but heyho you dont get to eat that .
We as a family eat there one a month and love it .

We visited here on Saturday night, 4 adults and 1 child. We ordered the royal banquet which consisted of soup, dim sum, duck and pancakes and 4 mains. My daughter ordered beef in black bean sauce.
On the banquet menu we noticed some of the dishes had prawns in. As none of us eat shellfish we asked if we could change a couple of the items. This was no problem at all and unlike some restaurants who charge you to change dishes we were able to substitute items for free. There was enough rice with the banquet for my daughter to have some with her beef and black bean. We were going to order some for her but the waitress informed us that the amount we got is a lot and there would be no need to order more for her.
All the food was delicious especially the lemon duck. Staff were friendly and attentive and it was great to meet the owner who was also working hard waiting on tables and greeting customers. This is a really busy and popular place which we hope to return to and try again.
