The time of the year -January is not usually snowy and iced over so this period of time for us this year due to the strange snow weather events was not ideal for staying in Calitri .
I feel sure it has much more to offer in the summer and warmer months .
The locality is great for touring to small towns and coastal cities .
The house was quite comfortable - good heating in the kitchen dining area were we spent most of our time .
We did have some issues with tv, internet and heating services which were out of the owners control and were looked after by the realtor agent in time .
The piazza were we had to park our car was 250 metres uphill to the house which was a bit of a struggle with shopping and suitcases but worth it when the view presents itself at the end !
The restaurants in the local area and in the town (by car ) were great - especially the la gatta cenerentola - pick of the town !
Groceries are very cheap compared to northern prices - so living is cheaper and cooking is fun .
Pity we were snowed out on this occasion- a rare event ( hopefully) for this end of the country
We were in Calitri for a few days and were very happy we stayed at the Casa della Feritoia. The place was cozy, comfortable and in a great location. The views from the master bedroom and rooftop terrace were amazing! The owner Paul was very friendly and helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations. My wife's great-grandfather grew up in Calitri before moving to the U.S., which is why we visited Calitri while we were in Italy. Our point of contact Emma even took us to the registry office where a guy named Vito did some research on my wife's ancestors. We actually met a couple of her distant relatives who still live in Calitri. All in all it was a great experience. We would love to go back someday and would definitely stay in this house again.
