We loved staying upstairs in the two level apartment/house amongst the olive plantations, fruit trees, and authentic day to day life in Crete. A couple stayed downstairs at the same time, completely detached from our area with separate garden areas and entrances.
The views were outstanding. The house is very spacious with all we needed. There is a washing machine too. The bed is very comfortable, and the decks outstanding. Lots of things eg golden beach, good small supermarket, cafe were definitely walking distance. We had a car on Crete so we also drove the short, easy drive to beautiful Chania and to other places on this large, super-interesting island.
This house is split iinto 2 apartments, we had the 1 bedroomed one which is on the 2 upper floors. It's in a great location for local shops, bus stop and not too far a walk to the beach. Anestis and Ioanna who seem to own it (although it says on the website it's owned by Fabio so I didn't really understand that) were very helpful and were there immediately if you had a problem, even though they live a short drive away.
The only down side with this property is that if you don't have a car or want to leave it and just go out on foot, it's a bit tricky getting down the pathway. So for instance, if you are not very mobile or are a little unsteady, it could be a problem. The path is quite steep at first and you're walking on soil and stones etc. There is a rope to hold on to and a couple of handy olive trees to steady you but I feel for anybody who is 'getting on a bit' or a little unsteady, it wouldn't be suitable.
Having said that, we enjoyed our stay and did take the pathway quite often - especially to visit Jumbo (a giant cheap shop) whose car park you end up in at the end of the path.
Had an amazing time - the owners couldn't have been more welcoming and the house couldn't have been better. The facilities and views were stunning.
Suited us perfectly but agree some might prefer to have a car.
Set away from the bustle of Chania Town, and Agii Apostoli, but within reach of these when needed. The views are the thing that really set this property apart. A panoramic view of the whole bay, from the 2 balconies at the front of the property, means you can watch sunrise and sunset. The rear balcony looks towards the mountains, which still had snow on in May.
The apartment is comfortable, with everything you need to cater for yourselves, but not far from the buses to go out for the evening if you want to. Would recommend a pair of Trainers for the steep path down to the main road. A car is handy to explore further afield, but not essential.
The owners are friendly, and gave us some eggs and fruit from their land. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. We cannot wait to come back!!!
