Stayed here many times in the past and was greeted by friendly staff. Under the new management this is not the case. Stay here if you want to be abused by a rude, grumpy man who essentially told me that they don't want business because they are full enough when I arrived at 10pm due to a late flight.

We arrived in Porirua by rail after traveling from Aukland to Wellington on the KiwiRail Northern Explorer. Amethyst Court Motor Lodge was easy to find. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. We had asked for a quiet room and it certainly was. No people or traffic noise contributing to a good sleep experience in a comfortable bed.The room was very clean and had a new appearance. The facilities were basic but adequate for self catering. It was well serviced daily by courteous and helpful staff. Room service is available. The New World supermarket is across the road next to a good shopping centre and other supermarkets are close by. A very good hotel in a good location.

Room Tip: As for a quiet room and you will probably be offered one at the back of the hotel.

The motel is ok, rooms are clean and big enough. I stay here the night before I had to get on the inter islander ferry, so was only really looking for a comfy place to rest up. While motel was fine the surround area is not great and pretty much run down. I found the front desk staff to be polite and friendly and they mentioned a few places to have dinner.

A modern motel with comfy rooms. Very clean. Tea and coffee making facilies, a large fridge and a microwave. The bathroom is large and complete with pleasant soaps and shower gels. The lady at the front desk was also very pleasant.

I use this site for everything when it comes to staying anywhere, this place has semi good reviews and had been comparing with another place further out, we choose this place on the review - well was that a mistake and have even sat on this before writing.

Reservation Details All amounts are New Zealand Dollar (NZD)
Category Description Rate Amount
Accommodation Twin Share Studio Suite - sleeps 3 - per night
2 x Adults, 1 x Child $175.00 x 1 Night $175.00
Meals Continental Breakfast $14.50 $14.50
Meals 2 x Cooked Breakfast $18.00 each $36.00

we booked breakfast from there site - oh no they dont do breakfast on the weekend (and I guess thats our issue even though the site states they do) - we felt so put out for the way the lady acted we choice not to go with breakfast because she said they would like a weekend off as well and if they really had too they would cook - what a joke you run a hotel lady.
and then to be told we had the old price - well even checking as I type this the price is the same so DONT LIE! to your customers, I don't expect to be treated like we have put the owners/mangers or what ever they are out on a limb, but being that we had booked a month in advance from there own site that the "so called price increase" was a load of bull.

Room was tidy the 1 star they get - coffee cups had only been rinsed not washed scrapped out the stains before using, no air-con (but we knew this - this place would cook in summer)

so to our shock horror we come down early to leave and the kitchen/cutlery area door is open the smell of a cooked breakfast is strong cool thanks for making a point about not doing a cooked breakfast - we really are the mugs for "letting you have a weekend off"......

so if you want to pay 175 to be made to feel like S&$T please use this place - if not find another place close there are many around, we will never stay here again, when people save hard thinking they are treating themselves - your not treating yourself here.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else
