Our family of 9 - 6 adults and 3 children (two 4 year olds and a 15 month old) stayed in Cider House for 5 nights. The description of the cottage and pictures were exact. We got sleeping bags for the 4 year olds and the cottage had a crib and high chair for the baby. It was a little cramped for the children in the bedrooms but since we wanted to be in the same cottage, we made it work. We enjoyed the quiet of the country after the hustle and bustle of London. Linda gave us a map which we used to walk to Sidmouth through the Byes. It was beautiful and so peaceful. The children loved the walk and also enjoyed the playground on the Boswell Farm property. There is a good pub within walking distance...the Blue Ball which is excellent. We also were able to walk to the bus stop to go to Beer. We did not have a car so being able to walk to Sidmouth and take a bus to other towns in Devon was very convenient.
From the first moment that we saw the cottage, we fell in love with it.
It is both large enough, and modern enough inside, to accommodate
six people comfortably; but it also brings an old-worldly charm, with
flowers tumbling over walls and birds chattering in the hedges. We
enjoyed a relaxing week and were well-situated to have easy access
to both the beach and local towns.
We can definitely recommend this cottage if you are looking for a taste
of the real Devon.
