Village Kozana offers one of few little hotels - Hotel Kozana. Neat and handy to spend overnight w breakfast which tends to be litlle boring. Haven't use restaurant.
...
It happens for the first time to me that actual hotel price list was per room lower than via Booking.com. Just stating the fact.

The hotel seems to be quite new. Rooms are not very big, but clean and cozy. It is situated on the hill, so there is awesome view from the rooms and restaurant. The food is pretty good, but not very cheap.
But there is no wifi in the rooms. And also a lot of disgusting bugs in the rooms.
It's perfect for couples who prefer to stay in the room whole day, but it's difficult to find some interesting places nearby. The taxi is expensive because it comes from Italy.

From a distance – it is just a square building – not interesting architecture at all. But it has nice position with view (ask for a room in upper floor and the side, open to Šmartno). Parking is near the main door. Rooms are not very big but they are very clean and you will get a decent breakfast downstairs. Quiet and peaceful place with warm welcome. It is perfect for a stop when you drink a glass too much, when you go on a trip with your bike or hike. Brda were without a hotel for years. This place was one of the first in the middle of the hills.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet at night.

We had a weekend escape from capital town to this small, but such a domestic hotel in the heart of Goriška brda region. We are travelling a lot, but we have nowhere found such a warm and friendly staff like in Hotel Kozana. Kristjan and Anka are there for the whole day, if you need them you will find them at a reception desk or in restaurant, giving you a lot of information about spending your time quallity in brda region.. I was wondering if they are even sleeping during the night ;) Excellent atmosphere, delicious dinner and breakfast (you can choose between different spreads, salami, cheese, croissant, joghurt, cereals, coffee, tea, milk etc). There are also turkish and finnish saunas, with a cozy wellness spot, where you can relax and recharge your batteries :)

Italy is very close, where you can have a lot of shopping time, with an Ikea and Tiare Center in the near and also Palmanova outlet centre...

We reccomend you to visit small, but such a historical village Smartno, which is about 3 min away from Hotel Kozana by car. Try to find Hiša Marica (House Marica) where you will be served with very good wine from this region, and dont forget to try their homemade prosciutto, mortadella, dried salami and three types of different cheese.

We were really happy to be part of the story in Hotel Kozana. If you have doubts about visiting it - deleteeeee those doubts and come... Really all the best, we will be back soon...

We visited hotel Kozana with a group of friends. The rooms are quite simple, just basicly equipped. The room was clean. We have been there on a rainy day mid November, the temperature in the room was a litle to low (cold), and there was no possibility to adjust the temperature. Ceramic tiles on the ground in the room are easy to clean but feel cold, there should be a carpet or similar. No chair or armchair in the room.

The double bed consist of two single beds with a 8 cm gap (!) inbetween.

The in room LCD TV provides an adequate choice of free TV channels. There is NO Wifi signal in the rooms, just in the restaurant and reception area. The reception and the bar is nice, the personel very (!) friendly. The restaurant is modern, but not cosy, to bright at night, no decoration except a big TV screen. The breakfast is not according to german or Austrian standards, it's obviously oriented to the Italian tourist who is used to an basic breakfast. Basic coffee, milk, tea, some bread and rolls, basic salami and cheese, some cereals, allready prepared scrambled eggs. No ham&eggs,... , ommeltes, etc...

The hotel is idealy located in the middle of "Goriška Brda" and there are many bicycle routes around the area. It's the only hotel who can accomodate a larger group (e.g. bus group), but there are many very nice smaller places in the area.

The management should improve the breakfast, they have a big kitchen and a profesional cook, who can prepare excellent dinners, so there is no reason not to have a bigger choice for breakfast. They shold also check the rooms and the restaurant area and make them more cosy.

While we have been there, there was a loud birthday party in the hotel cellar with music ending at 01:30 after midnight, the music could be heard up in the 2nd floor rooms.

The sauna is not included in the room rate.

The hotel is by my opinion overrated on certain internet sites!
