My husband and I stayed at Mangapapa for our 10 year anniversary, what a treat! It was our first time in the Hawkes Bay, such a fantastic introduction to the stunning region.

Breakfast was included, choosing from a yummy buffer option and also ordered options from the menu. We enjoyed the degustation dinner on our first night & the 3 course dinner on our last night.. delicious!

Hubby had a nice relaxation massage, while I enjoyed the sauna. We both also relaxed by the pool and in the spa.

The grounds are immaculate, the hotel is so boutique and pretty. We were so lucky to be upgraded to the Garden Cottage, a gorgeous 2 story apartment style room with huge bath, large balcony and everything you need. Like a home away from home. The cookies on arrival were delicious, the turn down service including the camomile tea and chocolates are all a wonderful touch. The decor is gorgeous, the bed super comfy, the shower pressure perfect. The staff are so lovely, we had a sweet Austrian waiter, a talented Chilean head chef, our receptionist soooo helpful, our room was always spotless and tidied multiple times daily.

The history of the hotel is very interesting as is the history of the vines in the region. The location is great too, close too many fabulous vineyards & beautiful Havelock, not too far from Te Mata Peak.. and more lovely spots, the list is endless!

This is truly a world class hotel experience, in a world class wine region. I'm so happy we spent our 10th wedding anniversary here! Highly recommend to those looking to treat themselves. Thank you Mangapapa!

We were in Napier for a national football tournament and the location of the hotel (10 mins from Havelock North and 20 mins for Napier) was perfect for exploring the local towns and vineyards when we had downtime from the tournament.

The hotel gardens are pristine and the homestead is stylishly decorated but also comfortable and homely. Our suite over in the Lady Wattie building with views over the paddock had a private courtyard and was lovely to sit and enjoy the evening sunsets. The room was of a good size, clean and with nice decor and a modern bathroom included large spa bath and shower. The bed was incredibly comfortable.

We intended to go out for dinner in the surrounding area, but ended up eating all 3 nights in the hotel as the food was delicious (both from the bar menu and in the restaurant). On our last night, we had the 5 course menu with matching wine and it was superb. Each course was perfectly balanced with amazing flavours and we would definitely recommend.

And lastly the service in the hotel is second to none, everyone was friendly and attentive (but not overly so) and really do make your stay a special one.

We would definitely stay again.

Room tip: The suites in the Lady Wattie building are spacious and have lovely views of the gardens and paddocks.

Stayed here for 3 nights with another couple while doing a road trip from Aukland to Wellington mid Octtober. Of the six different plačeš we stayed, all four agreed Mangapapa had the :
BEST beds - like floating on a cloud.
BEST ambiance - gardens were immaculate.
BEST rooms - large, spacious & clean.
BEST breakfast - selection, choice & the cooked dishes just incredible.
BEST evening meal - either 3 or 5 courses, every one different each night and exquisite
BEST service - Emily (manager) & her team of Olaf, Tony, chef Norka, Vicky and others deliver over and above expectation.
Mangapapa deserves to be rated SIX STARS
