“Fantastic Accommodation & Host!”
Reviewed 7 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We just spent the weekend at Mark's fabulous house. I cannot praise the accommodation and lovely host highly enough. We had a wonderful time relaxing in the beautiful surroundings and slept soundly in the comfy four-poster bed safe in the knowledge that my new car was safely parked in front of the house behind electric gates! We were completely spoilt by Mark who cooked us an excellent full English breakfast as well as supplying fruit, yoghurt, cereal and jams/marmalade and proper coffee and juice. All this in the beautiful living room with wood burning stove. It is worth mentioning that there is also a fridge in the bedroom stocked with milk and water, as well as a kettle, tea coffee and biscuits. The bathroom is furnished with a huge claw-foot bath, separate shower, bidet and double basins and its walls have beautifully carved panelling.

Thurston itself has a railway station only minutes walk from the house which provides easy access to Bury St Edmunds - a very pretty town with dozens of places to eat and lots of non-chain stores. There is also a great pub bear the station.

We had such a relaxing weekend and Mark was such a congenial and helpful host. I would highly recommend Thurston Lodge for a lovely relaxing weekend - or longer. I hope we will be back ourselves before too long.

Thank you Mark!

“Briiliant two night stay, great location”
Reviewed 3 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

stayed for a two night short break as a romantic getaway, four poster bed, spotless bathroom, woodburner in the drawing room and a baby grand piano. It was like a mini downton abbey ,this was one of the nicest bed and breakfasts i have stayed in for many years. Mark the owner is a lovely chap and could not do enough for us. He recommended some local places to visit and we borrowed his bikes for a ride that finished at the local pub(fox and hounds) well worth a visit as well.
For the price we paid this is fantastic value for money, we shall be coming back soon
