I would give this restaurant a higher rating if I could. Wonderfully casual, warm attentive staff, and above all fantastic food. We had the fois gras, better than most I’ve had in Paris. For entrees we had the venison with morels and tuna with duck ravioli. The portions were very generous. The venison was probably the best I’ve ever had, the whole dish cooked to perfection. The duck ravioli was amazing and the tuna good. We shared a maple crepe brûlée for dessert, although I am not a fan of flavoured brûlée, it was very good. The meal cost much less than previous meals at other restaurants that weren’t anywhere near as good. If you come to Quebec City this place is a must!!!

EAT HERE. ASAP!

We found this wonderful place while wandering around and could not believe our good fortune. For an appetizer, I had a cold lobster soup with julienned cucumbers in a wonderful broth. For entrees, I had a bison skirt steak while my wife had tuna tataki accompanied by duck ravioli. Both were superb. Our desserts, a lava cake and a sorbet/cake sandwich, were equally fabulous.

Delicious and creative food with informal but professional service. I had Red Snapper (right off the boat) with fresh fiddle head greens. My son had venison with local morel mushrooms and an extraordinary sauce. My wife had an interesting cheese creme brule' and lobster.

La Gueule de Bois lived up to expectations, and then some. Having left Nova Scotia five months ago, we were both hungry for lobster, and the $12 half-lobster appetizer special was a great way to start the meal. We also ordered the fish special (halibut with mussels on top) and boar ribs and sausage with a great Caesar salad and frites, which were excellent. While they were out of the Cava that we decided to order to cover this eclectic mix of food, we really enjoyed the sparkling Burgundy that we did get, and it did not leave us with "une gueule de bois." (Anglophones, use Google Translate to see what I mean.) Dessert was excellent too, and the service, throughout the evening, was polite, helpful and unobtrusive. Decor was cool too, as we were seated under a large piece depicting Rocket Richard made entirely out of buttons. We'll definitely be back on future visits to the city.

My favorite restaurant in quebec city.
Great decorations, quaint place. The food was absolutely amazing.
A little hidden and out of the way. but well worth the detour.
Reservations highly recommended.
