There is a scale model of the city of Quebec and the surrounding area. There is a light and sound show detailing the military attacks and history. It was informative but a little overpriced.

Thank Susan G

I had been wanting to go to that little fort-like building just across the Château Frontenac many times before.
Am I glad I did this time!!
It's a diorama, a room size model of Quebec City and surroundings and explains very clearly in 25 minutes the history of the main military battles between French, English...and Americans fighting over the city. With sounds, recorded narration, small lights lighting up the locations of ships, battles and men. The model itself has history it is 52 years old and was made by M. Price, a well-known family name in Quebec. Some panels tell the story of the diorama and more panels offer maps, and other info. The little shop offers history books, toy soldiers.
Presentations are offered in french and English at different times. It is located on the second floor

Good presentation if you're not familiar with the history of the area. It is a little overpriced $8/adult for a presentation that lasts about 25 minutes.

Bonjour,
I would like to thank you for your comment. Our visitor's opinion is important for us. Indeed, the complete experience at the Musée du Fort lasts for an average of 30 to 45 minutes long and we consider it as an introduction to a tour of the city. The combination of the sound and light show with the model offers an excellent synthesis of the history of Québec City. Our admission fee is an average according to the whole visit.

Because you easily could - this is a small museum about the history of Quebec, especially the military history. And if you just want to see the displays it is free, but you really want to stop in to pay the $8 or so and see the "sound and light show". This is a room-sized model of Quebec in a small darkened auditorium. A narration tells the history of Quebec, while projectors and lights on the model with light up appropriate sections in appropriate ways to help tell that story. And that description doesn't nearly do justice to the actual experience - worth a visit.

This was a great way to start a trip to gain an appreciation of Quebec City. Was nice to be able to put into reference the places we were seeing, from lower town to upper town, the walls and more. The dioramas were neat.
