Excellent food and service. Good location but not quiet or romantic.

The location is wonderful and the food, albeit variable is overall very good. Noise became an issue being crowded and with big tables. Very good and attentive service, pricey.

Went to l'Epicier 4 nights ago. We decided on the tasting menu. The food was very good. We had it with the wine pairing. The size of the wine poured for the tasting was generous but we were happy with happy with the pairings about 1/2 of the time. Definitely felt there's room for improvement there. The dessert was fantastic. At the end of a lot of courses it was served in a grapefruit, it was light and refreshing. Loved it. The service was excellent. Couldn't have asked for better in that category. The location is charming in Old Montreal. The restaurant is quaint. A fun old Montreal experience for sure. I recommend it.

I have been to Chez L'epicier twice in the last few years and both times have been exceptional. Last time we sat at the bar and service was excellent. Coming off a meal at Charlie Trotters in Chicago I have to say that this place was as good but a little more relaxed....which is what it is supposed to be. Good stuff

Great location in old Montreal with plentiful windows overlooking St. Paul St. While you are waiting for your table browse through the specialty take-out fare. French cuisine is quality, not necessarily quantity, so enjoy the fresh homemade bread, it is perfect. Indulge in the foie gras, it may not be the absolute best I have had, but it definitely ranks right up there, positively delicious. The veal dish got top marks for presentation, and was wonderfully full flavoured, in fact buttery. Nice wine selection, pricey but nice, and a good espresso and a grappa go perfectly with the club sandwhich desert, it is wicked!
