Just visited Massey Hall for the first time for a Jill Scott concert. I think she is the type of artist who excels in smaller, somewhat intimate classic halls like Massey where typically acoustics are enhanced by the settings configuration and generally that was the case ...although anyone attending events here may want to take care to avoid seats on the right/left extremities of the balconies as the speakers are focused (sensibly) toward the center of the hall, resulting in less clear vocals for those who have a close up side view of the stage and performers but unfortunately may not hear lyrics or instrumentation as well.

There are also some seats with obstructed views in the gallery and lower balcony due to balcony support beams, which can be avoided by taking care to check the hall's seating chart. As an older venue that does not appear to have been significantly renovated, the seats are somewhat narrow and legroom is at premium.

However, knowing what to look out for, I would readily attend another event here.

It seems hidden, but is one of Toronto's classics! The place is old but in a decent enough shape, really big inside... So well build that even if you buy the cheapest tickets, you are going to enjoy the show!

Massey Hall is still a fantastic place to see a concert. It is a wonderful old building in quite good condition. The sound in this venue has been very good whenever I attended, one of the main reasons this is such a good concert venue.

Seating on the main floor and balcony is generally quite good, offering good views of the stage. Personally I would stay away from the (highest) gallery level. Seats there are quite steep and cramped and seem very far away. Also watch for obstructed view seats on the main floor because there a few pillars near the back holding up the balcony.

Saw Ricky Gervais, a fantastic evening, outrageous, but so so funny. Massey Hall is fantastic, we had great seats and the view of the stage was perfect. Every word was clear and the service in the bar was good. Love this venue.
