Corridors lined with food stalls, where a mix of workers, executives, students, groups of youth, people pushing baby carriages queued for take-away sandwiches... several small tables free for all so you’d be lucky to get a seat at all. Very very informal, just stand and eat anywhere is ok. Or walk around eating, no one will mind. Got the famed pea-meal bacon sandwich and couldn’t understand what the fuss was all about... but hey it was a hot sandwich so still a pretty good eat when you’re hungry. It’s a market so you can buy whole slabs of meat and various fresh fish to cook for home... reasonable prices and not surprising this is where the locals go.

Whether a quick bite, looking for fresh produce, meats or fish, you'll never leave st. Lawrence market empty handed. From veal parmigiana to peameal sandwiches, to fresh fruit, to a missing kitchen tool, there's always something! I used to go to George brown and I thoroughly enjoyed being in such a close proximity to such a gem!

Lots of really great local food and drink, sold by very enthusiastic and knowledgeable locals, lots of samples to try and no pressure to buy ( although we did come out with a trolly load of food and drink) great place to pick up a lunch on the move.

There is definitely lots to see and many vendors to buy from, and if you want to get all your shopping done at one place, and you aren't too fussed about cost, it's an excellent place to shop. As a very budget conscious shopper, I don't shop here but that's because there's a lot of grocery stores in the area that offer similar items for a lower cost. That being said, there are some specialty shops here that you can't easily find elsewhere in Toronto.

Old school food market, best place to treasure hunt when it comes to cheese, meat and fresh veggies.
