Owner description: Mackenzie House is the restored home of William Lyon Mackenzie, Toronto's first Mayor, a radical journalist and publisher, and leader of the Rebellion of 1837 in Upper Canada. This house was given to Mackenzie by friends and supporters, when he retired from public life, and in recognition of his many years of serving the community. Mackenzie House is one of 10 historic museums operated by the City of Toronto. Toronto's Historic Sites engage visitors, inspire passion, challenge ideas and connect the past to the present.

I had the guided tour given by Elizabeth and learned about the printing press business from Jared. They were both great tour guides, and I would highly recommend going on the guided tour to get the most out of your visit to Mackenzie house. Also, it'seems apparently haunted by William Lyon Mackenzie himself, although I didn't see him on this visit!

I'm so glad my sister and I decided to go here! It was interesting, fun to print our own piece and not crowded! I recommend for history buffs, print shop nerds and font fanatics.

Really great - had a guided tour from a really well informed guide, fascinating historical detail, and great to try out a traditional printing press.

Seems the info on Google isn't quite up to date. Got there and it's closed in weekdays. They will be fully operational in spring onwards. Sigh.... but it's a nice neighborhood. A cathedral and church along the same street. Walking distant to The Distillery District 1.2km (30mins stroll)... on the way, I stopped at Mystic Muffin which has the best Apple Cake and bagels!!

Part of a wonderful group of smaller historic properties throughout Toronto.
It was a hugely enjoyable visit with a very informative guide.
We would just ask that perhaps better 'household management' was implemented, because the place looked as if a 'spring clean' would not go amiss.
