Owner description: A masterpiece of beaux-arts architecture, the historic Royal Alexandra is Toronto's senior theatre and, at 101, never having been converted to any other use, the oldest continuously operating legitimate theatre in North America. The Royal Alexandra is also North America's first truly "royal" theatre - "royal" by patent from Edward VII - named with royal permission for his consort, Alexandra, a Danish princess and great-grandmother of the present queen.

I hadn't been to this theatre in 17 years, and returned for the play Come From Away (which was excellent, btw). The theatre still retains its old-style charm and elegance. Obviously well maintained, seats are comfortable and acoustics are excellent.

Simply a fantastic venue to experience any performance from any vantage point. Just saw Come From Away and it exceeded expectations. Makes you proud to be Canadian.

After we saw this show this past week, I tried to figure out how many musical productions I have seen in my 65+ years. I think it's around 150. Without a doubt, Come From Away is one of the Top Ten productions I have seen. How 12 actors, with 12 chairs, and a trio of musicians in the background, can produce such a fast-paced,
emotional, brilliant 100-minute show is nothing short of impossible; but they did it! When most excellent theatre productions end, there is usually a standing ovation, but it takes a few people up on their feet before everyone else is up. Not with this show! The house went dark for a couple of seconds before the lights came up on the cast at the end, and during those seconds EVERYONE in the theatre was up on their feet, clapping and cheering, to greet the cast as the lights came up. I have NEVER seen this in my life! It was WONDERFUL! If you are a Canadian, you MUST see this show!
If you are from any other country, you will still LOVE it, but, as a Canadian, I felt this great sense of pride, and we are so grateful to the people of Gander for everything they did in the face of true tragedy. Do not miss this show!

We saw the play Come From Away last night. Wow, what a great show! If you have a chance go see this. The theater is amazing, we had great box seats with an awesome view of the stage. Such an historic venue to see a show at. You will not be disappointed.

We visited Toronto from New Brunswick just to see the Come From Away musical at the Royal Alexandria Theater. The experience was beyond words. The play was excellent, the theater was beautiful and the stall at the theater were wonderful. It was a great experience all around. Thank you.
