The hotel is fine--well-kept, really nice desk agent, and not too far from Parliament, Byward Market, the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, etc. This stretch of Rideau seems a mixture of college kids, tourists, and folks down on their luck. Once we figured out not to walk on Rideau, the experience was more pleasant. The hotel itself is a great deal, and we would stay there again. If you're not comfortable being in a part of town that's a bit less polished, then you will have to pay more and be closer to the sites. Trade-offs!
