We had a wonderful stay at the Merlot House. From the moment we arrived at this picturesque B&B we felt extremely welcomed. Shirley and Michael are warm, knowledgeable and kind. They could not do enough to make us feel at ease. They provided us with suggestions and coupons for local attractions. They gave us restaurant recommendations, and clear, simple directions for whereever we needed to go. Their breakfasts were second to none. The food was delicious, fresh. and impeacably presented. Overall we highly recommend the Merlot House B&B for your next getaway to Niagara on the Lake.

Lovely house, great breakfast and charming hosts. Located on a quiet street, a pleasant 10 to 15 minute walk to the theatre and shopping area. Highly recommended.

Welcoming, friendly hosts and a relaxing, incredibly tranquil inn, especially after a long, sunny summer day of walking and sampling at the local wineries. No stereotypical B&B chintz & tschotkes, either - just tasteful Americana mixed to lovely effect with cosmopolitan Japanese antiques. Mike's signature oatmeal blueberry pancakes on Sunday morning were divine and on Shirley's recommendation, we later visited a local ceramic artist and a new independent winery we hadn't heard of before and both are new favourites. My husband and I chose the Merlot House as our base to tour the Niagara region. We couldn't have made a better selection! We treated ourselves to the Merlot suite which was finely appointed with king bed, fireplace, easy chairs, and large bath. All three suites at the Merlot House are truly reflective of the website pictures. Guests also have the use of the library (including computer) and butler's pantry on the first floor. Shirley and Mike McBride are outstanding hosts who go out of their way to make you feel at home without being intrusive. They had information about the area assembled, provided us with coupons for winetasting at several excellent wineries, and made our dinner reservations at two outstanding restaurants REST/Stonewood Grill and Ginger. Breakfast was served in a charming dining area and we can still taste Mike's homemade scones and waffles! We can't wait to return for another visit.

What a beautiful home the Merlot is! The furnishings were very unique and our room was incredible. We were very pleased with the experience. There is a kitchen nook where you can help yourself to coffee/ tea and other goodies while you are there. Shirley was very accommodating and gave us tips and coupons for wineries while Mike cooked an amazing breakfast both mornings. The breakfast table was candlelit with fresh cut flowers - just spectacular. We hope to return there again VERY soon.
