A first time visit to Bistro Le Coq proved to be a delightful experience. It was a frigid January evening so the warm and cozy rustic décor was a welcome sight after a brisk walk from our hotel. Our waitress was both efficient and personable. She spoke fluent French, which not only gave me the opportunity to engage in my mother tongue but added to the theme of this restaurant. Her knowledge of menu options was thorough which helped us make judicious selections: escargot and tuna tartare starters, duck confit salad, crepe du jour and veal blanquette - all well prepared and presented. Our waitress provided discreet and timely wine service. We found the prices reasonable and overall good value.

Does have dishes like the fois gras and other french staples. the fries are excellent. Only one or two tables to accommodate larger groups. Service with a smile and the food tastes very good. You can't go wrong between this one and east of Grafton.

A lovely French bistro. The menu was classic, and all the food was all very well prepared. The marrow bones were the highlight of the meal for me: a very generous portion (share them!) with a lovely blueberry compote that complimented the dish nicely. I had the duck breast and someone else had the steak frites. Both were perfectly cooked, however the quality of the meat itself wasn't outstanding. Presentation and ambiance were lovely; a good mix of casual and upscale. Service was friendly if unremarkable. Wine list was decent, and not exorbitant, while the cocktail menu was playful. I had the Paris Sour, and it was excellent. Recommended.

The title says it all. We went here for dinner a couple of days before Christmas, on a rainy weeknight. We were early but there were still a number of people in the restaurant.
We both ordered the steak sandwich, with fried egg on top. It was delicious. The beef was medium well done, nicely cut---not too thin, not too thick. There was a nice garlicky sauce and melted cheese and then the fried egg. Frites were crispy and the aioli mayo was really tasty. We shared a 500 ml of one of the house reds, which was also very good.
Service was quick and friendly, without being rushed. It was just what we wanted for dinner and hit the spot on a cold wet night. The bill was under $70. We will be back!
