Outwardly, the Annapolis Royal Inn has a cute motel appearance in a new blue and yellow theme. The room was recently redecorated, but the queen bed was way too soft, so that as a couple we rolled into each other and the floor was sticky. Breakfast was continental. For same price or less, we got so much more at many other B & B's all over Nova Scotia with full breakfast and more friendly staff. It was a disappointment.

Room Tip: try 2 double beds, unless they have a new queen in room 1.

Thank you for your comments

We have 4 Queens 2 are firm and 2 are medium - we just can not decide what is best if you scan previous comments some find them to hard some to soft and some just right. We are busy choices are difficult but we want everyone to find bed that suits. There is no excuse for the floor - sorry. We have worked this summer hard to get our breakfast to a 4 out 5 rating, the hot waffles and hard boiled eggs with the hot sausages helped but it looks like we need something else.

The beds are awesome, really comfortable. Nice spacious clean room with all amenities, sofa, fridge, coffee machine, microwave, glasses, desk and chair. The grounds are well manicured, outdoor heated pool is clean. Loved that the wifi worked out under the gazebo. Would definitely stay again. Continental breakfast was fine, would like to have muffins and bagels added.

We stayed 2 nights here and overall were very pleased. We had the Deluxe Queen which had been refurbished with laminate flooring. It was a large room with a comfortable bed and a large desk. The bathroom was adequate but lacked shelving/counter space. There was ample space for a love seat or chairs and coffee table but the only seating was the desk chair and one small chair. The lighting needs improvement - it was very dark. The grounds were very nice. The staff very attentive. The breakfast room was very pleasant and the food selection very nice.

We had originally booked a cottage at a campground about 10 minutes from this motel. We arrived and were very disappointed! We got our refund and called around to find another place to stay. It being the labour day long weekend and being so close to Digby where the annual Wharf Rat Rally was being held we were lucky to find vacancy at the Annapolis Royal Inn. This place was very clean and the grounds were well manicured. The heated pool was very nice as well. They also offer a really nice free breakfast which included the best sausages we ever had that are locally made.

Thank you

The sausages are custom made just for us by Meadow Bank Farmer in the Annapolis Valley - we are really pleased on the feed back this summer

Decided to have a last minute weekend getaway. After some searching I came across this property which had the one requirement my husband was looking for, an outdoor pool. I booked two nights in a Deluxe Queen room and the next day we were off to Annapolis Royal.

Being a motel, you can pretty much pull up and park in front of your room. Upon entering the room there was a definite musty smell. Unfortunately this seems to be a given with most seasonal properties I've stayed in. I think their intent is to get rid of the carpeting, this would likely help a great deal with the odour. Other than that it was a great room. Nice bed, softer than my back likes but cozy and most importantly a duvet and 3 sheeting! No nasty comforters at the Inn!!

There was a comfy chair and love seat, table, desk & chair, small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Even had glass wine glasses & drinking glasses as well as plastic glasses available in the bathroom. Lots of nice towels in the bathroom and a hair dryer. I would say the bathroom in unit 9 was newly renovated with a one piece surround tub & shower and a nice big vanity and mirror.

The free wifi was acceptable for our needs, though it did "reset" frequently.

I think "boutique motel" does describe this place. The motel part ends once you walk in the door of your room, I think the upgraded rooms can compete with any of your average downtown Halifax hotels.

The grounds are lovely and well maintained. Lots of adirondack chairs around the property to sit and enjoy the peaceful views. The heated pool is nice and clean, with easy entry, though fairly deep for small children. We had it to ourselves in the early afternoon and the following morning.

The breakfast room is lovely and bright and clean, I do believe there is even a deck off the room so you could eat outside if you like and I saw a grill out there as well. I think if you wanted to use it for a special event it would be a great spot for a party. Our room was right next door to the breakfast room and we couldn't hear a thing.

The breakfast was fine. Very basic continental breakfast. The sausages were meh but the waffle iron was a nice touch. I saw cream cheese but didn't see any bagels, lots of bread and english muffins and a toaster. Orange slices, cheese cubes, yogurt and cold hard boiled eggs are in the fridge. Lots of coffee, tea and juice available. A selection of muffins would have been nice addition.

Some have said it's pricey but I really think they've upped the ante for motels enough to account for that. I don't think it's out of line for the amenities and location and high season. I've paid more for less. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and for a weekend getaway, it was perfect for us.

Dear Monacd

What delight to have you post such a comment, please make "Annapolis Royal In Your Place" is a theme we are building. We have 5 more rooms to be upgraded over the winter to install laminated flooring.
