At the end of a long month skiing Canada and with still days up my sleeve with nothing planned, I could hear inquiring friends"what? you went to Canada skiing and never went to Whistler". Looking out my window at the snow of Big White I picked up the phone and called Whistler Blackcomb and on their recommendations I booked 5 nights at Nita, Creekside. Three days later I am looking around my new room. Ooo this is nice so I,m off down to reception. "is my room availible for another two nights" .. Yes
'At the same rate"I ask. Hums and hars out the back and then back with a Yes so I'm in for 7days. Just lovely is this resort. Staff smiling, food of good standard, rooms are very nice as photos other guests have posted show. Serviced daily. A feature, the big bath tube, the water has a BLUE hugh when bath filled as water from snow.
Free shuttles to the Whistler village. Went one afternoon for a looksee and did not go back. Far to commercial for me. Creekside is my choice. Next door to the lodge is a bar Rolands and bbq Bobs grill. The bar does not allow minors after 8. If the bartender Rich is in attendance you will surely be made welcome. Free musical bingo once a week is popular so get in early for a seat.
It is not to far to the gondola that takes you up into the Whistler mountain and all its runs and to the peak to peak gondola. This was a wonderful stay. Is there a negative. Hm yes a little one. Dogs are by arrangement allowed in rooms. I saw a golden retriver going into one down the passage on my floor. Big dog. No smoking in rooms but if you are not use to dog smell then..... I like dogs but am in disagreement with this policy. The resort is NOT cheap. As a solo traveller it was the special rate offered that attracted me here. If it was not so special then I would not have been able to justify the expence. Whistler Backcomb is expensive so be prepared. Goes with the sport of skiing. note: snow here is wet, lands on you and melts unlike the interior fields I visited where flakes of snow could just be blowen by one breath of the sleeve. Still there was fresh powder to be found . Did I care. No. I just had heaps of fun.
