We've been to the Outback Resort on several occasions as we have friends that have property there so we're familiar with the grounds. However, if we had not been familiar with the grounds I could see this being a bit challenging. When you arrive to the Outback, it's in a gated community so you require a code to enter. The staff did not provide us with this code prior to our arrival or even make mention of it when we booked; however, our friends were able to advise us. After checking in, the staff casually pointed to where our unit was located and where the parking lot for this unit would be. Again, we were familiar with the property so it wasn't too challenging, but it's a large area with a lot of units - If this is your first visiting it would have been nice to have a staff member show you to your place.

We rented a three bedroom condo on the second level located on Trout Lake. The condo's are all a little different as their privately owned; however, the one we stayed in was fantastic. It was very spacious, had three full baths and everything you needed including the wifi password. The only downside was that in order to get to the unit you had a small hike from the parking lot which included a lot of gravel paths and up a flight of rock stairs - This is not ideal with suitcases and groceries in 30 degree heat.(Some units such as the forest cabins have parking next to them, however, Trout Lake units do not) It would have been incredibly helpful if the front desk staff used a golf cart to assist guests. I'm not sure how elderly people would make do. It's best to inquiry where your unit is before you arrive.

The Outback Resort is approximately 15-20 minutes out of town. We don't mind this commute as the community itself is very serene and everything you need is on site (minus groceries). If you don't want to go into town everyday, bring whatever you require with you beforehand.
There is two pool areas, one being an infinity pool that overlooks Lake Okanagan - It is gorgeous! Again, depending upon where your unit is located, it can be a bit of a hike to the pool. We ended up driving down to the pool each day as we had small children with little legs. The beach area is also very nice.

Overall, the Outback Resort is a great place to vacation whether it be with friends or family. The price may be a bit steep during the summer months, but the quality is worth it. You have a fully furnished unit to yourself with great amenities that you can use during your stay.

All of the accommodations at the Outback are wonderful but if you have the extra money say in a Quarry Bay Villa or a Ridge home - The lake view is stunning.

Room Tip: All accommodations are great!

We stayed at The Outback resort for two weeks in August and although previously had a good time here, this time was not so great. We stayed in one of the "newer" units in Trout Lake, so we were expecting lots, considering how expensive this place is.

It is in a nice, quiet location, but the home itself had many problems. Several lights were burned out, almost all knobs for the drawers in my room fell off right away, forcing me to have to open the drawers with my nails whenever I wanted clothes, three of the faucets knobs fell off, we had no coffee pot, no night-tables for the beds, and no TV cable connection as advertised. Some of our electronics had dead batteries as well.

We complained at the front desk, but were brushed off with the receptionist saying: "Sorry, there is nothing I can do", and that was that. Sure we can do fine without the above mentioned, but I was rather annoyed, as we are spending all this money to be pampered on our only two weeks off in the year. Some people did bring in two night-tables, but they were quickly dropped off at the door and we had to drag them up the stairs ourselves.

Other than that, the place was quite nice, with a gorgeous view! It has delightful air conditioning, and the kids loved the bunk beds! There are a couple different pools, and a fitness centre. We never had a problem with the WiFi, it was great! Quite a cozy little place!

We hired a house in the outback resort on the first line. What a place, the house was hanging over the rock, all glass so the view on the lake was super!! We stayed in for dinner just because of this view; There is no restaurant on the resort but only 15 minutes away you can find shops and restaurants. This was our favourite place during our 3 weeks in Canada.

We stayed in Quarry Bay Villas - QBB2 for five nights in July with our two teenage children and our friends in a nearby lodge. The accommodation was very spacious and well appointed and easily catered for 8 for BBQs and meals. The balcony had a great view over the lake. Highlights were swimming in the lake, speedboat trips, relaxing in the hot tub, visit and lunch at Mission Hill and sharing meals and wine with our friends. Idyllic setting and we loved it all. This was part of a 17 day trip from Scotland and we would love to have stayed longer.

Beautiful resort but pathetic service. When we arrived our entire family (2 month old infant) were stranded at the gate for an hour after a five hour drive from North Vancouver before a realtor happened to be passing by let us in with the gate code. At the reception another wait for a couple of hours before we located the maintenance person let us in. He tried to help us to the best of his ability. We found out that the Resort Manager was in an accident and not mobile but there was no one to help us. Apparently when we spoke to her she blamed Expedia for not passing on the information to her which I feel is a lie or else they would not have let us in. There is a welcome package which has all details for the resort which was not sent to us de spite staying for two nights. We were stranded again at the gate after a trip to the winery as the maint. man had given us the wrong code!
