We had a two night stay this past weekend and I would stay again and have already recommended to a couple friends. After staying at the Saguaro Palm Springs this past winter(and loving it) I was instantly drawn to the bright colours, mid century modern vibe and fun feel of this hotel. This hotel is at a great price point and is really a steal. The rooms appear newly updated; new floors, furniture and accessories and they are very well designed. I loved all the fun details in the room;the mod lighting, slatted bench, fun phone, the pin board with hotel info, fun things to do,free donuts dessert coupon at the onsite restaurant, free stickers, ear plugs. Bonus points for the book on Buddhism in addition to the rock style bible.

The amenities surpassed my expectations too; the pool area includes a 2nd floor slide, and a hot tub with a sauna not far off. These areas were always full; a fun place for family and friends. There is also a pong and Wii room that would have been a lot of fun had we had more time.

In all honesty the parts of this hotel I enjoyed the most were the free coffee(which was surprisingly delicious), the mid century modern hangout area that was chalked full of things to do: board games, records, books, and type writers. The free rentals of bikes long boards and skateboards which allowed my boyfriend to jump on a skateboard on a whim and film some tricks in the parking lot with a cool backdrop. The Ruby which is the onsite restaurant and has an insanely friendly manager and delicious and filling breakfast.

Finally my favorite part was the free Volkswagen bus shuttle which had the nicest driver full of great recommendations(who may have also been the hotel manager) The shuttle offers 3 great drop off and pickup locations(China town, in front of the Empress and by the Fisherman's Wharf). While the shuttle was great this guy was better, I overheard him talking to other staff members in the morning and kindness and patience of this guy towards his employees was actually heart warming.

I didn't mean to write an essay but here we are...

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies with fun mid century modern chairs, see if you can request one! I also love the design of the King room.

Excellent hotel for people travelling with a family. Affordable, very clean and great location. Kids love the pool and slide. Stayed in a "downstairs" room that included a full kitchen, sofa bed and a large bedroom. Second time there and will be back

I snuck my husband out of town to Victoria for a couple of days for his birthday. I’d seen the reviews on TripAdvisor and thought we’d give Hotel Zed a try. Are we ever glad we did!

We arrived before check-in time to find our room had had a maintenance issue but we were quickly offered 2 other options, one of which was their AirStream trailer. Wow, we didn’t even know that was an option. We loved it!

The up-cycled hotel is a great place to stay, whether you’re a family looking for a reasonable rate & stuff for your kids to do (free bike rentals, pingpong, longboards, pool...) or a couple looking for a fun & funky change to just another stuffy hotel. From typewriters & turntables in the lobby to instructions on how to use the dial phone in your room (call your mother!) its all been carefully put together to amuse & entertain.

Staff at Hotel Zed are all friendly & very helpful. When we asked to see the room & trailer before we decided, the front desk clerk happily obliged by taking us to both (the AirStream won hands down). We asked for late checkout so we could lazily enjoy breakfast at The Ruby*...no problem at all.

Would we recommend the hotel to others? We already have! Would we go back? You bet! Planning a return trip already.

Thanks Hotel Zed, you helped make a birthday surprise even better!

Thanks Swillbc! We are thrilled that you loved your stay in the Zedstream. Apologies for the maintenance hick-up, however, it sounds as though it all worked out in the end. I am so happy that we made the Birthday getaway a special one. Looking forward to seeing you (and all of your friends) again soon.

Best Regards,
Rebecca

Loved it! 60/70's throwback Room decor with dial phones! Laundry. Very clean rooms. Typewriters for postcards. Small indoor pool with water slides - fun. Free bikes and skateboards - easy ride to harbor path. We rented a tandem bike! Easy VW Bus transport to town. Great breakfast. Great customer service. Kids loved it too.

Hi KellenChicago,

Thank you so much for staying with us at Hotel Zed Victoria! I'm thrilled to hear you got a chance to take our tandem bike out on the beautiful bike trail that goes over the trestle and follows the ocean down to the inner harbor. It really is such an amazing trail! you call also go the opposite direction and it will take you to Swan Lake Bird Sanctuary. Maybe a good ride for next time you are in town?

3 night stay. Funky colourful rooms. Clean, well appointed.
Quirky and updated. Close to shopping and restaraunts. Great set up for a suite. Attentive staff with great amenities. Never ate at the hotel bit it was always full for breakfast. A heads up would have been nice for the road construction on Douglas directly outside the hotel...made entering and exiting with a vehicle a bit difficult.
