We recently spent 3 nights at Abigails Hotel in Victoria. The staff at Abigails is fabulous. They made us feel welcome from the start and did everything they could to make us feel at home. Fireplaces, beautiful linens, great breakfasts plus many wonderful little touches that make you feel like you have really had a treat! This is a romantic place. We loved having a glass of wine and reading in the library. You're not on the harbor if you stay here but it really has a lovely ambience. It is easy to drive in Victoria. Staff gave us great recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing. Only recommendation is - no elevator here - if stairs bother you ask for a room on street level. Don't hesitate to stay here...you will create special memories :)

Room Tip: Good pictures of different rooms on hotel website

We had read the reviews and based on them booked 4 nights (Nov 8-12). This is a place of respite. We had a King bedroom top of the stairs on the 2nd floor. Pleasing decor, and super clean. White towels changed daily. The tub with its rain drop shower head does require the mobility to swing leg up and in. The bed is higher and the topper is super soft so getting into bed with some arthritic limits was a bit of a challenge to shuffle in but wow what comfort on this cloud, under feather duvet and crisp linens... heavenly sleep. Climbing all the stairs, back entry, and then to the room floors could be a challenge that needs to be assessed if you have mobility issues but the staff gladly carried our suitcase. There was slight sound carry of someone walking above, distant bathroom sounds, but no late night disturbances allowing for restful sleep. There is staff on duty at all times. The library was lovely to sit in and sip some wine, or drink some coffee, read the paper. Staff light the fireplace. There is a selection of DVDs to take to your room. The breakfast offered is lovely baking and savory dish choices served in a bright room. We even were given a breakfast to go on our early airport day. The evening food offerings goes beyond what we would have expected. Staff was totally hospitality oriented. The location of Abigail's perfect for walking the sights... this is just an absolutely lovely place of respite and I hope to return since Victoria itself needs more exploring.

We had a couple of nights here last weekend and we can attest to the fact that this is a great place to stay and the customer service is excellent! The food is also very delicious, the appetizer hour is a wonderful touch, and our room was lovely. You can't go wrong here!

My wife and I stayed at Abigail's for the weekend when we were getting married. The staff are all super friendly and helpful!
The room we had was fantastic, we've never slept so soundly in our lives. The chairs were also very comfortable, as myself and my best man spent a few hours sitting in the room playing cards, waiting for my bride's family to arrive.
We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We would ask for a room away from the stairs the next time we stay.

We did very little research on Vancouver Island prior to our trip. We'd heard only from friends of ours who'd shown us amazing photos of their long and beautiful hikes and told us about the remote resort they stay in for a week every year. We thought the island was small and we'd be able to see the whole thing in the two days we'd be on it. So when we arrived in Victoria, we were expecting a quaint, sleepy little village. As we drove through town to get to Abigail's, however, we were rather unpleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a fairly large city - Victoria has about 300,000 people. As we drove past Bed Bath and Beyonds and strip malls, I was getting cranky - annoyed at my boyfriend and myself for not doing our homework and finding a quieter, more romantic place to stay. But then we arrived at Abigail's. Our room was so beautiful, and the staff there was so welcoming and friendly that we couldn't help but feel we'd made the right choice after all. We were hungry and they directed us to the Blue Fox for lunch - which ended up being our favorite meal of the trip (GO THERE - OMG). From there, we walked down to the gorgeous waterfront and spent time strolling around and soaking in the beauty of Victoria. But we always enjoyed coming back to the hotel. One of the evenings we were there was the night of the first presidential debate between President Obama and Mitt Romney. We couldn't wait to curl up in the hotel's puffy robes with a bottle of wine and some of the yummy happy hour treats Abigail's provides and just hang out in that beautiful room. It was a great night (the president's performance notwithstanding). The free breakfast was AMAZING - this is not your typical "make your own Belgian waffle" bar. Everything we had was perfectly done - the cornbread muffin and the scone were to die for - and they even made me a special breakfast because the menu options weren't quite what I wanted. And while there was in no way enough time to see the whole island in two days (I have no idea what I was thinking), the awesome staff at Abigail's directed us to a hike west of neighboring town Sooke that gave us the perfect taste of what we were looking for. We hiked through woods with huge old trees on a path that led to a deserted beach with a rope swing you could fly out over the ocean on. Yeah, pretty perfect. I loved Abigail's and hope to return again someday. Our thanks go out to the incredible staff there for making our trip so wonderful.
