Went there to hopefully have a swim but found that the tide was out and you needed to walk a long distance out of of the beach to get to the water. So unfortunately no swimming. However, this did not stop us having a great day. The beach is large and went on a Tuesday so there was not large crown there at all. We had plenty of space to enjoy a picnic, place some beach rugby and just relax and admire that scenery. You get a very nice view of downtown Vancouver and North Vancouver with the mountains powering in the back ground. Parking is free and there is loads of it. If you did not bring any food, there are two little kiosks offering basic meals and coffee. If you are looking to have a swim, I would recommend to have a look at the tidal charts so you can work out when the high tide is in.
