Now under new ownership (as of the last 12 months) Sunny Spot is truly a hidden gem. Food is incredibly honest and warm; unmistakably homemade in feeling and taste. Menu is straight-forward and to the point, catering more to the kitchens strengths.

Homemade noodles are thick and wonderfully chewy. Beef soup with pickled peppers and enoki mushrooms could be the best soup in the city. Pork filled buns are amazing, with the buns themselves made on an interesting griddle machine seated behind the counter.

The restaurant is completely family run, something that struck me as refreshing given the ubiquity of chain restaurants in Vancouver.

Homemade chili oil is revelatory and worthy of purchase (it's available for sale).

A must visit spot, cannot recommend enough.

A wonderful cafe for homemade dumplings, noodles and soups. The menu is fairly limited but the food very tasty. Your order also arrives very quickly. The decor is plain and simple but the housekeeping very clean. I understand that the ma and pa operators have recently opened a booth at the Richmond Night Market as well.

This is a family run Xi’an style restaurant located at the heart of Vancouver. Where is Xi’an? Xi’an is the ancient capital of 13 dynasties in the Chinese history. Its food culture can be traced back just as long as the history of the city is (over 3000 years). While Sunny Spot has only a handful of Xi’an’s famous dishes up for order, I can tell you that any of them is pretty much what the food tastes like in Xi’an (especially true for Braised Pork Burgers and Cool Rice Noodles). OK guys, next time when you go to China, don’t go to Xi’an. I just don’t want the place to be over-flooded by a bunch of crazy foodies!

We were not impressed with this local spot on Main Street. Some of the food was good but some was just OK or average. We have had much better Chinese food in Vancouver. it was nice that it was a family run spot. service was good and friendly.
