Now under new ownership (as of the last 12 months) Sunny Spot is truly a hidden gem. Food is incredibly honest and warm; unmistakably homemade in feeling and taste. Menu is straight-forward and to the point, catering more to the kitchens strengths.
Homemade noodles are thick and wonderfully chewy. Beef soup with pickled peppers and enoki mushrooms could be the best soup in the city. Pork filled buns are amazing, with the buns themselves made on an interesting griddle machine seated behind the counter.
The restaurant is completely family run, something that struck me as refreshing given the ubiquity of chain restaurants in Vancouver.
Homemade chili oil is revelatory and worthy of purchase (it's available for sale).
A must visit spot, cannot recommend enough.
