“First class home away from home...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2012

And I mean that, because from the moment you step in all the staff make you feel welcome and that your custom appreciated. Full disclosure - I rarely stay anywhere else in Vancouver, and a colleague has over 200 nights. But they keep track and reward loyalty - a box of chocolates may not sound much but shows a level of customer service I have rarely seen elsewhere and which I, for one, appreciate.
Location - great. Downtown. Two hundred metres from the penultimate stop on the Canada Line and an easy walk even in light drizzle, but even if it is raining cats and dogs everyone takes their umbrella to Vancouver! An easy walk to the waterfront and Yaletown, a bit further to Robson Street or Stanley Park, but then you need to lose those extra pounds, don't you.
Rooms are great. I haven't used the restaurant very often, but it is reputed to be very good and the one time i had breakfast there I had no complaints. I have spent many hours at the Diva bar, and the bar staff are great, although on my last visit they were cutting back the opening hours, I guess while everyone recovers from the fiscal shock of Christmas.
Bottom line - I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, business or pleasure.

My husband and I had an overnight stay at The Met as a belated Xmas gift to one another.
The central location is perfect for walking, shopping, movies, restaurants etc. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The Hot tub and pool area are well maintaned and the perfect spot to relax. Rooms are well appointed, TVs could be a little larger, beds are very comfortable.
Would stay there again.

I stayed at the Metropolitan for 5 nights. The location is great. Ot iis close to both touristic and business areas. The rooms were spacious and clean. The stuff is friendly and helpful. They have an indoor swimming pool and (too) small gym. Good restaurants and pubs near as well as public transportation to practically any location you need to get to.

I stayed 5 nights at the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver in January 2012 while attending a training course that was being held in one of the hotel meeting rooms. The entire experience was absolutely top rate. There is a close "sky train" stop to the hotel - about a block away - single train to the airport for about $9.00. The hotel rooms are spacious, mine had a small balcony and view of the 4-seasons pool next door which was nice (although I did get a bit envious...). The bathrooms are huge, bright and light. The wireless connection is super fast so that you can even stream movies with little interruption. The staff is incredibly attentive . The concierge gave me great recommendations for restaurants and precise directions when I was seeking out local businesses, yoga studios etc. He also wanted to know how classes, museums, etc. were so he could pass them along to other guests. There are a ton of local restaurants in every price range, and the art museum is just a block away (open late Tuesdays). The workout room was great, and the pool small but servicable. The hot tub and sauna never busy and always warm and inviting. I can't think of a think I would change. The meeting room was also top notch - the catered lunches incredible, there was gold dust on the top of the small cakes provided to us! There were a couple meeting attendees with very specific food restrictions and the hotel bent over backwards to provide them with lovely alternative selections during the week. I will return to the hotel should business ever take me to Vancouver again.

Room Tip: The deluxe king room was wonderful.

On entering the hotel, the foyer seems small and not particularly glamorous. However, this is entirely unimportant, as the hotel seems to strive to offer the highest possible standard of service. We stayed for five nights, and were very sorry to leave. The room was well appointed and comfortable, with a passageway from the door to the main room, thus minimising external noise. The bathroom was of a generous size, with a beautiful tiled shower and separate bath. Toiletries were regularly replenished, and the towels were huge and enveloping. When we requested one or two items, they were supplied extremely promptly and courteously. Given the fact that we were staying the hotel over the New Year weekend, we expected a lot of noise and disturbance. We received none at all. The reception staff were helpful, and the concierge Natalie is particularly to be commended in making enquiries on our behalf, as well as giving extremely clear directions. There seems to be a fair amount of job sharing going on, so that doormen sometimes double up as concierge, etc., and this seems to work smoothly. We had to check out extremely early (5.30 am), and this went very smoothly; an error in which we had been charged for a bottle of water which we had not consumed was corrected with the absolute minimum of fuss. If you wish to drink tea rather than coffee, they are very happy to supply a water kettle in addition to the coffee maker. The only slight criticism is that the teabag offered has a very strange taste. All in all, we were extremely happy with our stay at the Metropolitan. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and gave the impression of wanting us to be there, and to have an enjoyable time. The hotel is centrally positioned. If we revisited Vancouver, we would certainly stay there again.
