The Tea was tasty, the scones were good but as for the rest of the High Tea-the Tea sandwiches dry and tasteless, thankfully I had the tea to wash them down with--at one point my daughter asked to try a different flavour of Tea, and really for the price of this meal a second pot of Tea isn't an outrageous request-well the wait staff were beside themselves and finally agreed and then brought the wrong flavour, all in all, don't waste your time here.

We enjoy tea at the Fairmont properties. This one is not as classic as the one in Victoria but great nonetheless.

We had an amazing time. It was carnival themed. Very private room, intimate. Several desserts snd sandwiches served with our choices of tea. Service was great and attentive. A must!

My husband and I booked afternoon tea at the Fairmont expecting a lovely venue in line with both the impressive exterior, and with the sister hotel in Victoria. Imagine our disappointment when we were led down from the very dated-looking foyer into what looked like a dark 1960s bar in the basement, with not a window in sight. The "Mad Hatter" theme was appropriate, I guess, because we really were down a rabbit hole.
The floor under the first table we were seated at was very dirty, full of crumbs and paper pieces. Our waiter offered to re-seat us before I could mention it. Later, someone else was seated there without any cleaning taking place.
Our waiter was kind, but apparently used to dealing with guests disappointed with the venue: "...but you'll find the food is very nice!"
Well, the food was nice, but you go to afternoon tea for the experience of decadent food in charming ambience. Half of the pleasure is seeing what you're eating, and it was so dark that we really couldn't see it properly. Only the top tier of the étagère was lit by the harsh downlighting.
In conclusion: never again! The experience remains the low point of our otherwise lovely stay in Vancouver.

Moved up from the ground floor to the fifteenth floor, the venue, now called Tea At The Top has great city views and on a winters afternoon it was great to see the sun set, across the harbour and the Straits of Georgia all the way to the peaks on Vancouver Island.

A good selection of Indian and Sri Lankan teas - though I would have preferred to see some African varieties too.
Excellent selection of food, with very good home-cooked scones and home made jam and clotted cream.
There is a Special addition (at extra cost) of a cheeseboard with a glass of Port.
