For the people who likes a nice cityscape of Vancouver but hates the downtown traffic, the Q.E. Park is a good alternative viewpoint.

At winter time the place is pretty empty, give you lots of time at the viewpoints near to the dome to setup equipment and taking long shots. The spot overlooks Vancouver cityscape from south east with the snow mountains as the background. So the view is great is you have a decent lens. I’ve posted a few pictures here, the wide one was using 35mm and the close up one was using 80mm. There could be some ice and snow on the ground, so a stable tripod or monopod would be the best.

The view is excellent I must say, with the cold and crispy air in winter, I got a nice city scape. And this is without tripod. With a good tripod and long exposure, I’m sure you will have a great picture of Vancouver.

The pond on the way driving down the hill is packed with ducks. They literally took over the pond, the sidewalk and the road along with it. So be careful while you drive.

Lush green gardens, walkways, flowers everywhere. Lovely park right in the middle of downtown vancouver. Pictures below:

This park has been a highlight of visitors from around the world. The gardens are immaculate, varied and beautiful no matter what time of year you visit. If you don't mind paying the entrance fee, be to catch the tropical garden in the Bloedel Conservatory.

I live close to this park and visiting often so I am happy to see how season changes effect this park. Also the lock your love statues are getting busier! Nice place to visit, great view to downtown at right weather.

If you are staying in Vancouver you always think of the ocean and Stanley Park as the places to go to enjoy nature and escape the City. You should have Queen Elizabeth Park on your list. In the summer it is gorgeous but even on a misty January day it is a beautiful place to stroll. Give it a look!
